Hi all

So nervous! I am 36 weeks plus 6 and I am having a last minute scan at one today as when a new midwife measured me on Wednesday she said there hasn't been much growth since my last appointment a few weeks ago:-(

Throughout my whole pregnancy, touch wood, everything has run quite smoothly and all measurements were fine.

Midwife didnt seem too concerned as she said it could be just the fact that another midwife has done all the other measurements and they may measure slightly differently.

Trying to be positive but just so so nervous:-( I am feeling him kick all the time and heart beat was fine on Wednesday....

Anyone else have a similar situation????

:-(

I've never had this situation so can't help there but thjnk it is possible baby could be lay differently which could also mean smaller measurements

Don't panic! I had lots of growth scans with DC2 as I measured a bit small. However often when they checked the measurements at the hospital they didn't measure me anything like as small as the community midwife had. The scans check for other things as well, like fluid levels and blood flow through the cord, so they are quite a good thing to have. My 'small' baby was born at just shy of 39 weeks weighing 8lb10 (I did get them to recheck his weight as I was so shocked!).

Try not to worry - it is not at all uncommon for midwives to want things double checked via a growth scan. The old tape measure technique is pretty crude, so it's not hard to find yourself measuring a bit small. If it is any consolation I measure small yet scans show I've got a whopper baby in there!

Sadly at this stage it's often hard to make out anything much of the baby in the scan - they're so big at this stage you can only see bits, so you don't really get the cute baby images like at 12 or 20 weeks!

Try not to worry as already said it could be the mw or babies position that's making a difference. I just wanted to give you my experience.
I was pg with twins so scanned every 2 wks so new they were growing. However for some reason in the space of 4 wks I shrunk 4 cms, both measurements done by same mw. And everything was fine they had just shifted around abit. Good luck with the scan and enjoy seeing your lo

Hi both my dc stopped growing around 32 weeks and were born small at 37 weeks- 4lb 6 And 4lb 14! Despite being so tiny they were perfectly healthy - needed no special care and were home after a couple of days.
I'm sure your baby has just wriggled around a bit but if slow growth is an issue just be grateful they spotted it because with close monitoring things will still be fine.

I am too off for assessment for a growth scan this afternoon as I am measuring 35 weeks for last 4 weeks and am now 39 weeks. Good luck x

Had scan!
Nothing wrong with baby siZe but he is breech despite two midwives telling me head down!!

Have to have ECV next Thursday to see if they can turn him, otherwise it's an elective c section!
