Hi all,

Woke up this morning with a raging sore throat Sad and have been extremely fatigued the past week or so (obviously a precursor to this bug!) Can being ill harm my baby in anyway? Do I need to do anything?

Not being able to take nurofen sucks...hot water and lemon are just not cutting it...

It can depend on the illness unfortunately. I'd say go to the docs and get checked out. Especially if you have a raised temp, trouble keeping fluids down etc. It can be worse to leave things than to get things checked out than being on antibiotics for a week.

I had a cough, blocked up nose, d and v for 6 weeks, then to top it all off I developed pulurasy. All I could take was paracetamol!

Its horrible but baby looked lovely on scan!

Just get yourself checked. It's likely nothing, and most things wouldn't cause harm, but it's not worth the chance. If you need antibiotics, you should have them, rather than letting an infection get worse.

And make sure to keep your fluids up, dehydration can be the most dangerous part of any illness, for anyone.

Many thanks ladies!
No temp as yet, touch wood and have drunk about a litre of fluid this morning already...good old hot Ribena. Don't seem to have lost my appetite either! Will give the docs a call tomorrow if it doesn't seem to be getting any better, never sure about these things,

Thanks

It is/was! Worse when people didnt know I was pregnant and thought I was just being a martyr not taking any stronger drugs! - I got a lot more sympathy when everyone knew that id love to take loads of drugs but cant!!

Go to your GP but common illnesses such as colds are usually OK.

There are a few to look out for - but these are severe food poisoning or have flu-like symptoms (including raised temp) so you'd be off to your Dr anyway.

As others have said it depends on the illness so its worth being checked over. I had a chest infection then flu when I was about 6 weeks pregnant. I'm now a couple of weeks away from meeting my LO. Its awful being ill whilst pregnant. Hope you feel well soon :-)
