Early scan - 6 weeks - no fetal pole

I am pg after two years of secondary infertility, two rounds of IUI (one failure, one success but miscarried at 5 weeks). I finally had a laporoscopy and endo removal and fell pg the first cycle after that.

I am pretty sure of my dates. My period came early after the laporoscopy but I wasn't sure if it was all period of if some of it was post op bleeding. So I monitored by BBT carefully and taking the first day of the bleeding as CD1 I ovulated on CD19. So by my calculations I am 6+1 today.

I had an early scan this morning and all they could see was the sac and yolk sac. No fetal pole. Sonographer said I was measuring about 5 - 51/2 weeks.

I'm really (probably disproportionately) upset. I'm sure they should be able to see a fetal pole by now. They are scanning me again in 10 days but I just feel like I'm waiting for a miscarriage now. :(

Has anyone else been scanned at 6 weeks and there not been a fetal pole?

Hi, didn't want to read and run.
I had a scan at 5w3d and there was no fetal pole but there was a yolk sac, 7 days later they scanned again and I'm now 27w4d :) Hopefully your dates are just out a little bit - mine were - but I remember the panic. Just hold on for that next scan before assuming the worst

I didn't have a scan that early, but I did have a private reassurance scan at what I thought was 8+3 the scan dated me at 7+5 which worried me slightly although I hid it from everyone. Had nhs scan at 12 weeks and they put me ahead if my own dates.

Hi, exactly the same thing happened to me...sac and yolk at 6 weeks at an early scan due to cramping and spotting but no pole or heartbeat.... After 10 days i went back and saw my little kidney bean with a flickering heart! I've just had my 12 week scan and all ok... Stay positive! I convinced myself in the 10 days wait it was bad news and put myself through hell for no reason! Good luck!!!

Same happened to me. Went for scan at 6+4 and found no fetal pole and not even a yolk sac. 10 days later and there was a bean with a hb and am now 18wks. 5 weeks is so early there's every chance you will have a good outcome. I know how horrible this limbo is for you though and I hope it goes quickly for you
