Hi girls can anyone give me advice/opinions please. My LMP was 27/04/14 i have a pretty reg 26day cycle, got my BFP on 26/05/14 so therefore i should be 8weeks today, had a scan at 6+6 and all they could see was gest sac, had another scan at 7+4 and there was a bit of growth but only yolk sac seen, no baby no hb. I have no bleeding/cramps or any other sign of misc, i have a 6yr old daughter and had an uneventful pregnancy with her. I am now 42yrs old and ttc for a year as its my partners 1st, will be heartbroken if this pregnancy doesnt progress, have a followup scan next tue so praying we see a baby. Has anyone else gone through anything similar and what do you think the outcome will be. Many thanks for reading x

Hello, I have just had the exact same thing - my thread is "Early Scan Problems"

I'm so sorry you're going through this and I completely understand how rubbish it is

I also had an uneventful first pregnancy - no problems

Had an early scan a few weeks ago at 7 weeks by dates - could only see a yolk sac and gestational sac, went back a week later and had yolk sac and small fetal pole, scanned again on Thursday (should have been 9 weeks) and sac hasn't grown and fetal pole now shrunk and no heartbeat

Unfortunately, miscarriage confirmed for me and I'm going in next week for medical management. Have no cramps or bleeding.

The waiting is absolutely hellish and it's so hard to concentrate on anything else and I'm glad that we at least know now

I have heard a lot of stories of people returning for scans in 1-2 weeks and all has been well

I'm really hoping you get good news as things do seem inconclusive at the moment

Don't give up hope. I will be thinking of you, as I know exactly how this feels x

When this happened to me they sent me for hcg blood tests straight away and then again 2 days later to see if they were going up or not. That was better than having to wait for another scan for me.

I know the waiting in limbo is just awful, I know

Interesting about the blood tests - they didn't offer me this and I forgot to ask about it

Took 2 weeks for me to finally get an answer and although I'm heartbroken at the bad news, I feel better now I know

Hoping for a good outcome for you

Just try to keep busy and distract yourself as much as possible. Easier said than done I know!!

I'm not in the UK. It's how they do things here. But because of the outcome in hindsight I realise it was the best for me at the time. I was terrified of waiting ages for another scan and seeing an empty screen again.

It wasn't a good outcome for me then. But I did get pg again on the 3rd cycle after. And I have heard lots of examples of a positive outcome for others hope it works out for you.

Well the blood tests put my levels at about 7 weeks when I knew I was about 10 at that point despite the doctor insisting that I probably just got my dates wrong. I started bleeding the day I was supposed to get repeat bloods and it was all over a couple of weeks later naturally and I didn't bother going back to the hospital.

I should have known it wasn't viable as when they ordered my bloods they ordered just hcg and nothing else. This time they wanted tests for everything straight away so I got a bit of reassurance from that.

It was a bit lost in translation the first time. All they could tell me was ' it's empy'

In the same hospital though I'd had experience of scans being missread and in this pg they sent me for a private scan as they couldn't see enough at 20 weeks. I was 22 weeks before I got any reassurance. Just another point worth making. Sometimes it's the sonographer and the equipment.

Thanks anyway am 25+2 now. Good luck again.
