1- Its not means tested so no

2- £138.18 a week if you qualify for full MA

3 - You may be eligible if you have been employed/self employes for 26 weeks within the 66 weeks leading upto your due date (for full MA)

Check out the direct gov website for more info Smile

Thanks for this info. My timing is awful and I've fallen pregnant shortly after resigning from my job and will be 12 weeks when I start my new one so looks like maternity allowance for me! Bit of a bummer as previous job had brilliant maternity package - 6 months full pay [sob]...

I found out I was pregnant 2 weeks into a new job so I feel your pain Sad

How did your new employers take the news? I'm so worried about telling mine!

SouthDerbyshireMamma · 19/06/2014 17:52

Surprisingly well. I kept it tp myself until the end of my probationary period. What made it worse is that the girl who works under me is also pregnant and due to go on mat leave the week after me.

There isn't much they can do about it but it doesn't stop you from whittling.

When are you planning on telling your new employer? It will be ok Smile

I was in same position!

Told employer 2 weeks before I started (at about 14 weeks) to get it over and done with! They were fine about it. Helps that it's nhs (so more conscious of not discriminating IMO) and boss has four kids themselves!

3 weeks til mat leave starts and I've done a good job since I've been there so I think that helps.
