Scan-did they tell you to look away?

We told lady doing so an that we didn't want to find out the sex of our twins. However, at no point did she warn us to look away and now I'm 99.9999999%sure one was a boy. A bit miffed but then I'm wondering if she didn't bother saying as it's too hard to guess to an untrained eye? We have two boys and found out the sex of the second one at the 20 week scan and now I'll be stunned if they weren't boy bits I saw (second twin was lying funny, she struggled to get any measurements so didn't see anything-phew)!

Congratulations on twins! Our lady did tell us to look away several times yes as we didn't want to know. I don't think I'd have known what I was looking at tbh but didn't want to risk it.

We were told to look away, but only once she started the leg measurements, so I already saw my DS's ''bits''. Rather disappointed to know, as I wanted a surprise. Wish she'd said sooner.

Nope, never told to look away. Doubt I'd have been able to interpret the image anyway.

Never been told to look away. Had loads of scans with dd2 so by the end of the pregnancy I was fairly sure she was a girl as had never seen any boy bits in any of the scans.

We weren't asked if we wanted to know and she never said to look away.

Ah, that's so annoying! You'd think that if they're going to measure the legs they'd warn you! Feel a bit huffed as this pregnancy I'm suffering from SPD so thought of that as my surprise at the end.

We wanted to find out and he told us last thing. My DP was absolutely certain he saw boy bits. I literally couldn't tell the baby's arse from it's elbow but was surprised at how big the girl bits are. The radiographer explained they are unproportionately large at 20 weeks.

I would say there's a good chance you didn't see what you thought you saw.

We were assertive and told the sonographer as soon as we got in we didn't want to know.

She was really good and kept turning the screen so we couldn't see when she was doing the measurements or baby started to make it obvious.

I had a very late scan- and was convinced it was a boy. She wasn't! So don't be too sure..........

Thanks folks, nice to think there's still a surprise! We get scanned every 4 weeks so going to be very clear at the next one that I want to be warned before they get anywhere near that area!

Sometimes I was told to look away but not others (diabetic so had lots of scans). Even though we didn't want to know sometimes I couldn't help but look and definatley saw a penis.

At least that's what I thought until my daughter was born!

They asked if we wanted to know gender after they had done all the medical checks where they pointed to weird blobs i couldn't work out and told us this organ is OK and that organ is OK. I guess they wanted us to see that baby was well.

Then we were asked and they said girl.

I also saw the cord and thought boy. They said "no it's the cord, look..." but TBH I wouldn't have known if not told.

I think you just need to take control. I told the sonographer that I didn't want to look until she was at a bit that couldn't give away the gender. She seemed very happy with that, and went on to tell us when we should and shouldn't look.

I am so confused by this thread. The sonographer could have had on the screen a zoomed in picture of it's gens and I probably still wouldn't have a fucking clue.

My husband 'thinks he saw a knob' this time but I reckon it was probably a bit of the cord.

Apparently the Royal Gwent in Newport gets it wrong so often that they're not allowed to say anymore. Although this could well be an urban myth.
