16 weeks preg, have had flu for a week. Fever, hacking cough to the point if incontinence, up every 1 hour through the night on hands and knees in bathroom coughing up mucous. Pulled muscles in my stomach etc.

Went to doctor and he gave me a vapuriser and anti-biotics. Just started the anti bios, hoping they'll kick in soon.

TMI, but - DH and I had sex for the first time last night and he said everything feels very congested "down there." Said he literally felt like there was no room for him, just everything was very hard and compacted and bumpy.

Do you think everything is okay?

Yes, the baby will be fine. Have you been able to keep your folic acid down- that would be my only worry.

ubiquitousslug · 08/06/2014 17:44

Yep folic acid and all vitamins continuing to be taken....

Baby is very well-protected and will be fine. Horrible for you though. Hope you feel better soon

ThermoLobster · 08/06/2014 17:48

Hi. I think you only have to take folic acid up to 12 weeks?
Am sure baby will be fine. I was v poorly on numerous occasions with DD2 and she is currently driving me crazy, jabbering away, and being a general menace of a two year old. can't comment on the weird sex feeling as DH wasn't allowed any!

I had the sickness bug and was throwing up 3-4 times every 30 mins (my husband counted them lol) this was for over 12 hours. I even started throwing up blood and this was a day before my first scan and baby was fine :) I mentioned it and was told baby has plenty protection in there

My mum had mumps and measles when she was pregnant with me and I'm fine (generally! Others may say differently Smile)

SandorClegane · 08/06/2014 18:34

I'm surprised you felt like sex when you're so ill.

SandorClegane · 08/06/2014 18:38

Sorry that sounded a bit abrupt, each to their own and all that. I don't really understand what your partner means but I imagine you'll be fine.

ZakuroFujiwara · 08/06/2014 18:42

When pregnant with my second I had penumonia twice, was very poorly, IV antibiotics, admitted to hospital both times, sick, coughing etc.

She's five and absolutely fine Smile

Might be worth doing down pelvic floor exercises. If you ve been coughing to the point of incontincnce it might be a bit if muscle slackness or a small prolapse. Pelvic floor exercises should help if that s it. Contact your maternity hospital - some have early pregnancy exercises classes to advise you how to do them or have a chat with your dr or get referred to women s health Physio for further advise.

Sometimes I have been "swollen" down there with the hormones (both when pg and on periods) ... Could that be what DH felt? Lots more blood pumping and of course your colon pushed right up against everything so gross sorry the bumpy stuff could be poo.

Sighing · 08/06/2014 20:58

You could be dehydrated. That would make everything dryer (less stretchy, bumpy etc).
