I'm 8 months pregnant for the first time and trying to get my head around what's coming up. I'm hoping to make a word cloud about how first-time mums to be feel about the impending changes. I'm doing another one in the parenting thread to see what words people use after they've had their babies. Just really interested to compare the two.

I'd really appreciate it if you could chuck some words down for me about how you're feeling. As few or as many as you'd like.

Thanks!

These are the variety of words, some negative, some positive, that have pretty much summed up my pregnancy:

Shocked
Lucky
Horrified
Nervous
In mourning (about the life I won't have)
Excited
Scared
Naïve
Unprepared
Frustrated
Clueless

Hahaha... all that looks negative. It took me a long time to get over the shock to be honest, and the shock made me angry, frustrated, slightly horrified. This wasn't an 'unplanned' pregnancy, I was just SO sure it wouldn't happen for us (and I didn't mind either way).

I'm just coming round to 'it's a baby', and started to get excited about it. I'm 24 weeks.

I'm 14 weeks along and so far I have felt:

Happy
Excited
Overwhelmed
In awe of the miracle occurring
Emotional

Nervous
Terrified
Sick
Tired
Worried

Basically a whole mixture of feelings and emotions!

Terrified (That something will happen the baby in labour)
Excited (To meet my little man in 2-3 weeks)
Proud (That i'm continuing on the gene pool!)
Happy (Because my hormones are balanced)
Peaceful (As i feel i'm doing what i was put on the planet to do)
Lucky (As i'm 38 and we got the BFP on first attempt)

Mainly all positive- there must be a reason people still continue to do it?

I really like your idea of a word cloud. I was thinking of doing a blog on the emotions of pregnancy, to which other ladies could contribute. There are so many emotions and it's a shifting inner landscape. These words refer to feelings I've had since first finding out -- I don't still feel all of them now (at 12 weeks) as the feelings change:

shocked, excited, anxious, tender, creative, sad, angry, fearful, protective, strong, vulnerable, dreamy, loving, happy, more assertive (strangely!).

Chloris33 · 09/06/2014 15:34

And I'd add overwhelmed.
