Thrush in pregnancy - what can I use?

What can I use for thrush in pregnancy? Don't think I can use the tablet, but what about the pessary? Not sure cream alone is going to cut it.

I'm 21 weeks if that makes any difference!

Good old fashioned plain, full fat,live natural yoghurt is the only thing that works for me my friend. Also bicarbonate of soda in your bath, with no bubbles etc

Slap as much yoghurt up and on your foof as possible - wear a pad as you really do need that much - and leave it there as long as you can bear then shower off, and reapply.

It's horrible, isn't it, but this will work

My doctor prescribed me the pessary and cream (canestan). Just advised not to push it too far up! I was 31 weeks though. Oh and I did a swab first to make sure that's what it was.

I would visit docs if you have time or get canestan if not!

Canestan pessary and cream. You have to push the pessary in with your fingers, not the applicator though.

Thanks everyone! It really is hideous. What causes it? I'm presuming it must be something hormonal as I've only ever had it when pregnant or breastfeeding and milk supply/demand has changed.

I my friend says hers was hormonal too, I couldn't eat blue cheese or marmite the week before my period or I'd have thrush again

it is common in pregnancy. You can use pessaries and creams but not the tablet.

I had rampant thrush during my first pregnancy and used pessaries and inserted them with the applicator. Everything was fine. The pessaries isn't going to end up in your uterus just because you're pregnant.

No problem. I don't think I know many pregnant women who haven't had thrush. It's so annoying.
