Mature placenta. Do I need to be worried?

Currently 35+6 and was told today my placenta is mature. Have to go back in 2 wks and doctor gave me a list of things to come back to hospital with if they happen (reduced movement, bleeding, waters going etc). Has anyone had this before? Do I need to do anything/be careful of anything?

What the blimmin' heck is a mature placenta? Does it tell you to drink less and settle arguments?

I have no experience. I've never even heard of 'mature placenta'. But the list you've been given (reduced movement, bleeding, waters etc...) are standard any pregnant woman should call/return to hospital if they experience this.

Thanks biscuit. This is dc3 so I know the drill, however the impression the consultant gave me was that this is more likely with a mature placenta than normal. Was just looking to see if anyone had heard of/experienced this. Doesn't seem so though. Smile

Hmm... After I have birth my midwife was having a good rummage thru my placenta and she mentioned it being Mature/scaly/stressed. I think it was due to it being quite tough in some areas. She reckoned or was due to me being very run down in the weeks before I have birth.

I've no idea what it meant or what the implications wereand I Googled it a lot and didn't find anything.

Not sure if it's the same thing but baby was absolutely fine and 9 days overdue.
