Reassure me... painting

I'm hoping for some reassurance here. Am really trying my hardest to be super calm during pregnancy and not worry about every tiny little thing.... HOWEVER!

We have a decorator in who's painting the outside of our house. He's just started today, and it's all pretty smelly! At 20 weeks pg, It smells like the kind of paint I technically shouldn't be near.... The front door is open so he can use the house etc so the smell is coming inside. Tis a teeny tiny terraced house so even though I'm in the kitchen I'm not far away from the actual paint.

However, being realistic, I'm sat in the kitchen with both french doors open. I'm even sat right by them, so much so I'm practically outside!! The front door is also open. The house is as ventilated as can be, and I'm not doing the actual painting!!!

I'm fine, aren't I? I'd really rather not have to leave the house if I can help it, but I obviously don't want to be sat here all afternoon if it's going to be bad for the baby.

Most paints nowadays are lead free.. so should be OK.
that said, if it's causing second hand stress then yeah you probably shouldnt sit there all day.

Ive done a fair bit of painting during pregnancy as we are moving into a new house- just bits and pieces- i think as long as you're not doing it v regularly it's ok!

I'm moving house shortly and will be painting when we get there (I'll be 25wks) so I asked my midwife if I should have any concerns, she said no, just make sure it's well ventilated.

If you're super worried though, give your midwife a call - she'll be able to reassure you Grin

Thanks for the replies. Not actually that worried, I knew I was right to think logically, just wanted some reassurance :-)
