ideas for birthday presents when birthday close to due date

Sorry for the random post! It's my birthday in a couple of weeks, about a week after my due date. My family are asking for present ideas. My sister asked if a breastfeeding pillow would be a boring present - my gut reaction was yes! But then I thought maybe that is just the kind of thing I'll be wanting?

So I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of great presents that I'll be really glad of just after giving birth (or just before I suppose!)

Something for you as a person: not just as a mother! Do you like reading? Or could you take up a new hobby that people could contribute to?

Me too! Less than a week before my due date. I'd quite like some pamper stuff for me - perfume, bubble bath etc - or chocolate :-)

Can I join? Same here. Actually the same thing happened with DS3, I asked for breastfeeding tops/pjs from H&M, loads of smellies, like face wipes and lip balm which looks like gloss. I looked like hell after 2 weeks of day and night breastfeeding - but my face was clean and my lips weren't chapped!

Or, how about a voucher for a salon to have massage/pedicure or other treat, just for you?

Well, things you would normally like and enjoy.

But if you are after 'baby' stuff, things like vouchers for Cook or a subscription to Lovefilm/Netflix would be good.

Could you tell them that you'd like to decide after the birth and don't mind late presents, as you might really wish you had x y and z that you hadn't thought of, whether it be a special pillow or a pamper pack or even something like a knee pad for bending over the bath!

It depends on your point of view on it really, but I have had a similar reaction about Christmas presents since I will be due in early January. As soon as I realised the proximity I said to my husband (and will be saying to friends and family!) that I want presents for ME not the baby (selfish I know but this will be my last Christmas before I am a mother and I want to make the most of it!)

My friends and family refused to buy anything baby related for my birthday. I sort of understand why.

I was very spoilt with a new watch, handbag, trainers and shoes. Things that I wouldn't grow out of after the birth but things I could use now :-)

My birthday's next week and I'll be 16 weeks. I asked for a new mattress as I figure I'll need to be comfy as I get bigger and after the baby arrives may be spending quite some time in bed. So perhaps something comfort-related like that?

Nice handbag, big enough for baby paraphenalia!, voucher for clothes (I just wanted some nice things to tide me over the "fat", post-pregnancy stage), a vouche for a pedicure, hair cut, massage or similar. I wouldn't go for something specifically breastfeeding in case it doesn't work out for whatever reason - plus you will need to get that as and when you need it anyway rather than wait a week for your birthday (if you give birth on due date).

New camera, iPod, kindle? Something that is not directly baby related, but will come in handy during night feeds etc.

How about a hamper of all the food you've been avoiding eating for nine months and some lovely wine.

If you like that of course. My birthday is a week after DS's and my friends bought me cheese and wine, it was lush!

Well stuff for you would he a good start -.- not really a birthday present if its something for little babber, dont mean to sound selfish but its true lol make up, new straightners/curlers/hairdryer, face creams, perfumes, jewellry, some new tops, shoes or trainers, something to go with your mobile or laptop or whatever the list is endless lol :) mine is due on the 16th july and my birthday is the 10th, but we think im going to have to he induced couple of weeks before so im in the same boat lol if it was me i would love a new handbag and shoes :D got my eye on a gawgus pair of red platform slingbacks have done for a while :( and betty boop handbag! Love all me betty stuff, or a couple more figurines :) x

I think I'll also suggest clothes vouchers, I could do with some nice new tops for after when I have a jelly belly

I'm the me right now with my first due 2 weeks before my birthday but even funnier 2 days before dh (joking about holding onto the baby until it's his birthday [Grin],) I've decided to get him a present from baby of some films or some chef things he's wanted.

Box sets? Books?

Based on what I'd have liked last time around...
Box set of your favourite mindless telly (I watched HOURS of telly whilst bfeeding)
Hand cream (your hands are ruined when you have a newborn - all the hand washing)
Chocolate
Beautiful, washable pyjamas and luxe 'loungewear' (possibly exists only in my imagination)
