Does anyone have experience with low amniotic fluid?

I'm 36 weeks. I've been given a scan because MW wasn't sure if baby was breech. Baby is head down which is great but they aren't happy with the amount of fluid around it. The lady who was scanning me couldn't really give me much information but it seems to be linked to my incomplete cervix due to previous operations. I've got an appointment with the consultant this week.

Anyone have any experience with this? What will the consultant do?
TIA

Hi ya , I've had this twice. First pregnancy I found out at 38weeks due to a scan and they induced me that week. In my second pregnancy it was at 37weeks and I was induced again.

I wasn't too worried as the hospital were taking actions etc to prevent infections etc so I'm sure you will be just fine but it's scary when you do find out.

Hope you get the right care and baby is okay. Xx

Thanks. I'm still working and only just moved house, so quite busy and really wanted these last 4 weeks to get straight and feel ready. So hopefully I'll just be monitored.
Thanks again :)

hi Op

my low fluid levels were caught at a 34 week scan....they sent me home and asked me to drink lots of water and come back in 3 days. That scan showed no improvement and they induced 2 hours later. it was quite the surprise as nobody gave us the heads up that it was that concerning until the hospital doc came in and said "let's have a baby today!" [shocked]

oh and said baby was perfectly fine BTW

Thanks Fixitup. I'll go prepared then.

I had low fluid. I was leaking for weeks but I was told it was discharge as when pregnant you get more of it. Was admitted at 38 weeks due to consistent reduced movements. Had a scan which confirmed low fluid and induced the new day. I'm now cuddling my 7month old!

Yes - at 37 weeks. DD was also breech, so they decided to opt for elective section 4 days later!

I had a routine scan for my twins at 34 weeks and twin 1 had no fluid (had no idea I was leaking). I had the steroid injections and they delivered them the next day by CS as both were transverse. Twin 1 had an infection from a lack of fluid and needed antibiotics in the NICU. Both spent 2 weeks in special care.

neversleepagain I hope they are ok now.

Should have added that - both absolutely fine and nearly 20 months old now :)

Good luck Thanks
