Travel insurance during pregnancy?

I've booked a holiday to Greece in a few weeks time when I'll be about 14 weeks pg. Do I need to let travel insurers know about this? Is it classed as a pre-existing condition? Thanks .

Definitely let them know. Where you pregnant when you arranged your travel insurance?

I haven't sorted the insurance yet, was planning on doing it this week so it's a whole new policy. I've looked through the MoneySupermarket site and there's no option to let them know on there - I guess I'll need to give the individual insurers a call then...

I have an annual policy and called them to let them know I was pregnant. They were fine and so no further notification was needed apart from for travel in late pregnancy.

I contacted a few insurers recently as I needed an annual policy that would let me fly at 29wks. I contacted john Lewis and insure and go and they all said they did not consider normal pregnancy an illness so they did not need to be informed. I could just buy a policy as normal.
For reference the one I went for, debenhams (cover provided through insure and go), cover you up to 32 weeks; after this they won't cover you for pregnancy related stuff apart from a few conditions. Of course the airline need to be happy to fly you too.

Thanks for the information, it's really helpful. I'll probably contact them to let them know just in case, but because I'll only be between 14 and 15 weeks, it shouldn't be a problem x

I used Debenhams aswell at 23/24 weeks and they also told me just to go for the normal one :)

I've now emailed the company I'm going with (Alpha Travel Insurance) and they've said this.

"Pregnancy is not classed as a pre-existing medical condition and therefore does not need to be declared on the policy. As you have had no complications, the policy will cover you on your travels."

"If however, you are later diagnosed with any medical conditions related to the pregnancy, such as high blood pressure, these will need to be disclosed and a medical screening completed prior to travel."
