Someone please give some advice I'm worried sick

Around 3 months ago I found a lump in my armpit and was referred to the royal marsden who said it was nothing and now I've found a lump in my chest the doctor started asking me about breast cancer history in my family and then said its a lymph node and I need to be referred for an urgent mammogram at the hospital I'm 24 years old and 16 weeks pregnant I can't stop crying and very worried. I literally feel awful and worried about the effect this will have on the baby I don't no what to do.

Really sorry you're going through this. Try not to imagine the worst although I know it's hard. Make sure your doctors know about your pregnancy. Whatever it turns out to be, there may be things they can do which won't hurt your baby but will help you.

It could just be breast tissue so try not to panic.
I've been to the breast clinic as I have very lumpy breasts and now I'm pregnant I've a massive lump in my armpit and lumps all over my boobs. It's all just breast tissue.

I've heard breasts can go lumpy when pregnant, try not to worry although that's easier said then done. Really hope you're ok x

Mammograms are fine, just uncomfortable - you'll get through it and then you'll know either way. I hope there's no squirtage for everyone's sake.

I'd worry more if they made me wait until after the baby, it would overshadow the joy of your pregnancy, birth & new baby!

I too have very lumpy breasts & it's quite stressful because I'm always wondering, never sure if that one was there before or not!

Lumps can move and change especially in pregnancy so it's probably just that.

Try not to worry...I know thats easier said, your body is changing so much and it is probably an odd pregnancy related issue.

I have had a armpit cyst for nearly eight years now all checked by a breast consultant ans normal. It engorged massively after my last DS but went down again after my milk dried up. Now Im 25 weeks and its happened again (although a lot sooner). Saw GP yesterday and she isnt in the slightest bit concerned.

Don't panic. It's quite standard to get an urgent referral - it isn't necessarily anything sinister.

Your doctor tools history to inform your notes. There can be a genetic link with breast cancer.

You probably won't have a mammogram as their not recommended for propels of your age. In you get people the breast tissue is too thick to see anything.

You'll get an appointment at your hospital. You'll see a consultant, maybe have an ultrasound, they might take a sample (a Fine Needle Aspiration) and you'll most likely have an answer or an appointment for further investigation the same day.

I have lumpy breasts too, and your hormones during pregnancy can make you lumpier. I developed a milk cyst during my most recent pregnancy and we're just keeping an eye on it.

It's most likely absolutely nothing, but getting it checked is the right thing to do.

Thanks everyone for your advice he absolutley scared the life out if me I suffer very badly with anxiety anyway because I've had quite a hard time the last 2 years, my first son has a life limiting genetic condition and is severely disabilled and ever since having him I've sufferd very badly with it, really do hope it's hormones xx

OP - it sounds like things are tough. Are you getting help with your anxiety?

Getting breast lumps checked is like visiting the dentist. We all have to do it bits not pleasant, but it's not normally anything to be scared of.

Im sure it will be ok. I know exactly how your feeling as my mum had cancerous lump in her breast, and i had a cyst. As others have said it can just be your glands blocking up, or a fatty lump. I knkw its hard not to worry but do try not to. I was a bag of nerves waiting, but my mum helped me alot x

No, I'm sitting in out of hours docs again now because the anxiety is really bad and I nearly collapsed I no she can't do anything but I don't no what else to do.

Oh OP. Sad Hope the OOH doc can help a bit. I've been there with crippling anxiety and it is horrendous, especially when you have something specifically scary to worry about. Hopefully just talking to the doc will make you feel a bit easier.

Oh op sorry to hear you are struggling. It's standard practice to refer you straight away for any lumps on breasts to a specialist unit within a week, as a pp said.

I had this a couple of years ago and it is very scary but just turned out to be a lump of solid tissue, nothing at all. But they do a feel and an ultrasound in the first instance, no mammogram. You are in very good hands and at your age chances of it being anything sinister are incredibly low. Our bodies change so much during pregnancy, especially boobs and there are all sorts of things it could be that are perfectly harmless :)

For the anxiety is there someone with you over the weekend so you aren't alone? I struggle with it too and I hope someone in rl is there for hand holding and hugs. There are safe medications to take in pregnancy (I have been on some) so don't discount that option if offered to you.

I saw the doctor she was actually really nice and helpful she had a look but she didn't want to prescribe anything at the moment but said if I go to my regular docs on Monday he can prescribe antidepressants which help with anxiety.

My partners here but he just gets annoyed with me and thinks I'm being ridiculous. He did apologise when I got back but said he doesn't want me to go through what I did before (I had severe postnatal depression that was triggered through anxiety) my mum unfortunately is on holiday for the next 10 days but we spoke on the phone xx

Hi OP, sorry to hear you're having a tough time. Also just wanted to add that I am another who historically have had lumpy breasts where I needed ultrasound and biopsy, but no mammogram. All were fine, no problems at all. Within weeks of finding out I'm pregnant I got another lump under my arm, and it does seem it's rather common. Hope your referral goes through quickly so you can get some answers.

I ended up collapsing and blacking out yesterday morning went to the gp nothing they can do to speed things up, Ive booked a private appointment in Harley street and going tomorrow, praying for good results xx

I'm sure the lump will be nothing OP, but so follow up and talk to your GP about the anxiety.

Livingzuid I have already been referred because I had postnatal depression they automatically done it.

Had scan done everything is fine not even my lymphnodes but fatty tissue very annoyed with doctor for scaring me so much had to pay almost £500.00 in the private clinic but was actually worth it to put my mind at rest xx
