I found out at my 20 week scan that my placenta is a low lying posterior that is not covering the OS. They said there isn't a problem with this, it will probably move and I have a scan at 36 weeks to check if its moved or not, I am 22 and this is my first baby. Today I am 25+4 and had a midwife appointment, everything went great but she seemed rather surprised/shocked I hadn't had any bleeding and said that with a low placenta you usually bleed!?? I thought that was only if it was covering the OS which mine isn't? I'm just wondering if it is indeed normal to bleed with a low placenta regardless of whether it is covering the OS or not? From reading I was seriously under the impression it was only expected to happen in the case of a proper placenta praevia thats covering the OS?
I'm not that worried but I would be if I started bleeding! Obviously if I were to I would go to hospital etc but is this something I should be expecting to happen? xxxx
