I'm only 13+6 weeks and I've gained 10lb Shock I was really going to try this pregnancy to keep a handle on excess weight gain but I've been so hungry.
Please tell me others have gained similar

Yep I'd gained about the same as you at that stage, I'm now 18 weeks and have gained 16lb.

I worry about it a lot but I think that's because I've always been slim so to suddenly not be is odd!

I've read up on it (a lot) and the general consensus seems to be that women all gain weight differently in pregnancy, as long as you and the baby are healthy then it's fine.

I'd gained more by that time, and I put on 5 stone it total through excessive cake consumption!!

I'd gained 10lb by 10 weeks. I was shocked. I've always been fairly slim and my weight has been stable all my adult life so to gain that amount in the 6 weeks from BFP was completely out of character for me. But my body obviously wanted it. The gain then slowed for a while but is ramping up again now (23 weeks). I am eating a bit more than usual but nowhere near enough to equate to the extra weight.

I was worried I wasn't showing until last week. And that I wasn't gaining anything and I was weighing myself a lot.decided to relax a bit and step away from the scales.I went shopping today though and picked up a pair of trousers and the lady in the shop saw me stretching them and said ' oh yes there's easily room for both of you in there' then she said 'you're quite big aren't you' she guessed at least 7 months! I'm 18+6 and it was the first time anyone noticed a bump! I don't know if I should keep an eye on my weight now. Nothing was said at my last apt and I had a bmi of 26.

You've gained a huge amount of blood, are growing a baby and a placenta, and you're boobs have probably grown too.

Don't worry. Be kind to yourself during pregnancy. Eat. You need it.

I am really sympathising with you, as seem to gain weight quickly in pregnancy, but I think it just varies from person to person and also pregnancy to pregnancy. I'm expecting twins, and gained 2 and a half stone by 28weeks, which according to the pregnancy weight gain sites I've been on, is too much. Feeling pretty low as I get told at least 3 or 4 times a day how huge I am. I've never been overweight. Can you imagine another scenario in life where people tell you daily that you're huge?!

theborrower · 05/05/2014 21:13

I stopped weighing myself weeks ago, and I'm a bit scared to have a look again Blush

First time around I only gained a stone and a half, and I suspect I've beaten that. I'm 30 weeks. BUT that's probably a good thing because first baby was very small and I've been told that we need a bigger baby this time around.

My nausea went on a lot longer this time, so I was eating more in the first trimester, and I don't get as much exercise as I used to when I was child free --and I can't resist eating my daughter's Easter chocolates

Try not to worry about it. Eat when you need to, but make your snacks healthy if you can.

I'm 13+5 and have put on 9lbs AND I was overweight prior to BFP. I logged it on a pregnancy app which told me my weight gain was "excessive". I won't be logging again, it can bog off! X

MummyV18 · 05/05/2014 22:59

I don't feel as bad now knowing others are similar. I gained nearly 3 stone with DC1 and I had almost lost it all when I found out about DC2.
I was already over weight so every pound shows (I'm not the tallest either)
Midwife said I could continue going to slimming world if I wanted but today I stopped as I can't bare seeing the scales go up any more & paying for the pleasure lol
Thanks for reassuring me everyone Smile

I'm 32 + 4 and gained 2 1/2 stone :s was quite strict before with myself but I've been reassured by people I know that have gained 3-4 stone and got back to there normal weight after

SquidgyMaltLoaf · 05/05/2014 23:38

I'm 33+1 and have always been slim so like a poster upthread am finding it really odd. I had gained 2 stone last time I looked which was about 3-4 weeks ago... Have now removed long mirror from bedroom and no limo her use the scales - figured I'm not going to get rid of it now so I'll just worry about it after the baby comes!
