Pregnant and a baby to care for. Anyone else?

Anyone else that is pregnant and have a child to care for that is under 12 month and can't walk yet?

I have a 7 month old boy. And I'm 15 weeks pregnant with dc2. Recently my son found out that you can walk with the feet and loves to walk up my bump. I try that he doesn't but sometimes he does it when you don't expect it.. My bump hurts. I'm exhausted..

If it didn't had the bump I wouldn't even say that I'm pregnant.

How did you survive your pregnancy with an active kid under 12 month?

Me. I'm 30 weeks pregnant and have DC's aged 7, 6, 3 and 11 months. I'm knackered and achey. For me it's my 3 year old who is the most difficult one as he is so stubborn and keeps climbing things and getting stuck. Also he weighs a ton.

Yes me! My Ds is 7 almost 8 months and I'm 16 weeks with dc4. Can't really offer advice I'm afraid my here to sympathise not sure how I'm going to manage as I get bigger, Ds is a big boy and I'm already getting out of breath carrying him up the stairs! I think it going to be hard towards the end and I'm going to take any offers of help I get, I'm just hoping I get some! I'm due on the 13th October is that about the same time as you? :)

X post with Ellie I've got a three year old too and omg I swear she has become a different child over the last two months has def become a threenager!! :)

I'm due oct 26th..

But if my boy keeps being active like this, and sometimes he likes to be rocked and bounced to sleep.. Sometimes I think I'm sitting on a birthing ball trying to get labour going except it is way to early but all I'm doing is putting DS to sleep. :-)

I'm expecting twins and have an 11 mo ds who's not walking yet...I'm almost 16 weeks and permanently exhausted...no advice here either sorry, just a lot of understanding of how you're feeling

sympathizing with you here, i have a 5yr old dd and 7½mnth old ds who still doesnt sleep through the night :( and currently 26 weeks pregnant due 11th aug! x

Take advantage of your DS's activity! Encourage him to get places on his own, especially climbing the stairs (heavily supervised, 1-2 steps behind). This will help a lot when you get to the 8/9 months of pregnancy and you don't have to lift him ALL THE TIME!

And then when he's walking get reins for when you're out and a good second-hand double pushchair.

Mine are 12 months apart and the pregnancy/first six months of DC2's life are the hardest. It got much easier for me after that, quite rapidly.

I think the reality is that there are pro's and con's to all age gaps. In ways i'd rather this age gap than say 18-24 mths- at least your little guy isnt walking yet, all hell will break loose when he does! As WhatsaGoodusername says, i'd imagine first 6 mths of DC2 will be interesting- but it would be equally interesting if there was 6 mths extra of a gap, right?

I'm planning a similar age gap myself (only one DC 1 at the moment) so will be interested in the replies.. and good luck!

The going thing is, since we started telling him that he will be a big brother soon and that he is getting to big to fall asleep in my arms. He started to hate falling asleep in my arms. Only in his crib or pram..

We will purchase a double stroller after 20 week scan..

Somehow I'm not in the mood for baby shopping as I was with the first..

He gets bored very quickly so have to move him around the house a lot from one toy to the next... Plus since we went outside with him (only on warmer days) he constantly wants to go outside now.. But where I live we still have a lot of cold days..

Shopping for DC2 is much more practical and less exciting generally. And you will have many of the things you need already. You did baby shopping a year ago - it's not surprising you're less in the mood now. It's not shiny and new and you're tired from being pregnant and tired from having to care for an active baby.

Test drive a lot of different strollers in the shop to see what suits you, then buy online.

Try putting the toys just out of reach and get him crawling. Not to the point of getting upset, but as a goal. You'll have it easier when he can get the toy he wants himself.

I also found a playpen invaluable for DC2 - I could put him in and he'd be safe from DS1 wanting to "play" with him if I needed to do something.
