Second pregnancy test fainter than first....?

Hi there... I took a pregnancy test last night I had had a couple of days brown discharge and then nothing. My cycles are all over the place so I can't really say that I'm late but I got a feeling... So the test, I think, was positive. It was a clearblue test and the cross was definitely there... although pretty faint. I took another with my first urine the next morning and the line was there if you squinted, but really faint! I don't know if I want it to be there so much that I am seeing things.... But am I correct in thinking that if there is any line at all, no matter how faint, it's positive?
Was planning on giving it another few days and testing again but would really appreciate any help!!

I think so. I did my first test at night and it was a faint positive, but the next day with FMU I could hardly see it. I think by that night it was clearer. Maybe wait 24 hours and see what happens. But, I'm pretty sure a line is a line! Good luck!

If the test is positive, no matter how faint, then you are pregnant (congratulations!). In all likelihood you will be fine, but in the early days and weeks there is always a risk of CP/miscarriage and it really is just a waiting game which I know is excruciating. I wouldn't set too much store by faintness of lines however. I am currently five weeks and tested with cheapies every day in the first week. There was a general trend towards lines getting darker but lots of fluctuation in intensity from day to day. There's a reason the experts tell you to wait three days before testing again but it's just so hard to do! I would try to hold out until the weekend now if you can... sure you'll have a clear result by then.

I used IC and got a faint, then another faint and then a really dark one this morning. Wait a few days and test with fmu.

This happened with me too, took a test and it was a faint positive, the next day it was still faint but a little stronger and the next day it had almost vanished! I waited a few days before testing with fmu and I came up straight away very very strong

My midwife said a line is a line, doesn't matter how faint it is

Also check the sensitivity of cb, I thought they weren't that sensitive? Maybe you could get a more sensitive one

I don't suppose it matters when I go to the doctors as long as its before the 12 weeks does it?? Just thinking I won't get the opportunity in the next fortnight... Or should I go straight away (after the next test of course!)

Tbh I don't think it matters when you go to docs, with my last pregnancy I was almost 10 weeks when I found out!!

So I'm pleased to report I took a test yesterday and there was a lovely robust pregnant line!! Hooray! I know there is still such a big chance it could go wrong but I'm trying not to worry (as a natural born worrier this is tricky!).
I have been feeling really queasy, waking at the crack of dawn and having a lot of cramps... Which I gather are all normal...
Also I had a nosebleed... I've never had a nosebleed... I said to my husband I thought I was miscarriaging through my nose (which, in hindsight is a really weird thing to say!). But when I looked it up as another weird pregnancy symptom that just confirmed things... I willed more nosebleeds to come! Isn't it strange how you want to feel sick and have all the yucky symptoms.. Just so you feel 100% pregnant... Or maybe that's just me?

I'm the exact same I'm a worrier and can't wait for morning sickness! But I have had cramps and a nosebleed tooo

Just like others say it should be fine :)

go to the docs before 8 weeks if possible as they need to call the midwives and you have a booking in appointment with them between 8 and 10 weeks to get any relevant info and give you all the info you might need, they refer you for your 12 week scan.

Will definitely go to the doctors next week... Is it just the one appointment before the 12 week scan? I'm just wondering how I am going to juggle appointments without telling my busy body boss!!
Also... I know its commonplace not to tell people before the scan.. but does that apply to close family too? I'm itching to tell my mum but was going to wait until I've seen the doctors... But then I will worry (!!) that if I tell the folks I will jinx it somehow! Arghh!!
Also.. anyone any thoughts on acupuncture through pregnancy? Never had it but heard it might chill me out...?

I would speak to the GP's receptionist initially. Some require you to see a GP first, but most will just refer you directly to the midwife, which saves an appointment. They no longer check you are pregnant and just take your word for it. Then the midwife would usually call to make your "booking in appointment" which will take place around the 8 week mark. Just be aware that you'll need around an hour for this one as there are lots of forms to fill in. The midwife will also take your bloods and check your urine and your and your partner's medical histories so it's quite an involved process. All good though! At that point she'll get the ball rolling with booking your scans etc too.

And who you tell is entirely up to you! No hard and fast rules on that one.

I told my close family members and two close friends I think the only reason they say not to tell anyone is incase something goes wrong then you'd have to tell all the same people again, but in my opinion the people I told would be the best support if something does go wrong

You should be ok with holding off telling your boss in the early stages because most pregnancies you usually have a booking appt and then nothing until your 12 week scan.

With my first I pulled a sickie for my booking appt (I felt so naughty!) and had to tell them just before 12 week scan as they aren't very generous with time off and annual leave has to be booked weeks in advance!

Thanks Monstamio.. just called the surgery who gave me the midwives details and they will be sending me an appointment through in the next week or so... it's all go!! How exciting!!

Ducky - you're so right... I would be calling up Mum straight away if anything were to go wrong so I may as well give her the good news!! And don't feel bad about the sickie... I've pulled one today!!! Was decorating from dusk to dawn all weekend, plus waking up at stupid o'clock every morning... I feel like my body needs a rest! Much more important to look after myself than drag myself through work... wont make a habit of it though... promise :)
