Hello
I have recently (like 5 days ago) found out I am pregnant. We were trying and due to my age thought it would take forever or never happen. Two months of trying and here I am. It is our first child and we are both not baby/kids people at all, mainly because we don't quite know what to do with them. We are completely clueless so doing lots of research. We are happy and I know the risks but I am just going to enjoy it I think.
Anyone else in the same boat
Cheers

Hi!

I'm 42 and expecting our first baby! We also in the same boat as you, no children, and pretty clueless. For us we have had a long journey with 5 recurrent miscarriages and having to have a CVS at 14 weeks, fortunately everything has come back clear and now I am 27 weeks.

I'm reading up on everything and have started to get the nursery reading. My younger sister who has two children of 14 and 16 but lives 200 miles away has said she will come up when the baby is born to help. Unfortunately OH and I have lost both set of parents, so we don't have the family support as such.

Ours is a much long for baby, but it is scary, as it has been the the two of us and the dogs for such a long time. We would love to have another but with the age and the number of miscarriages we suspect this will an only child.

Message me if you want to chat!

Xxxx

I'm 40 and 18 weeks pregnant. We thought it would take ages too, and to be honest I wasn't bothered whether it happened or not. 3 weeks after I had my coil out, I was pregnant. Almost unbelievable. I think we're still a little bit in shock.

39 & 12 weeks here. Trying for just 3 weeks!

So yes, very overwhelmed at first. All a bit too much too soon!

We also don't know anything, our nieces and nephews live hundreds of miles away and we see them only twice a year. We get on fine with them, but haven't a clue how to parent!

At least we're settled house/finances wise. And we've all our partying and travelling out of our system. That helps a lot.

When you're older though, you just don't have the same level of family support. My Dad is 80 & my Mum not much younger. Both in dodgy health, so nothing other than moral support expected. But you just have to get on with it, don't you?

Mind you, hoping to get offered some hand-me-downs from people, as everyone we know has finished their families already! Grin
