I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!prescribinginfosub

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

sunny I'm in Rotterdam so not that near Noordwijk. I think I have been there (need to check with DH) and it had a fabulous beach. I adore the beaches in this country, it is something I will really miss when we move.

Are you feeling better?

okla it is just such a drag in the runup to week 20. Not helped by the sickness either. I did start to feel so much better after the scan because at least I knew it wasn't all for nothing!

boo how nice that you get to be in lovely Greece soon. And seeing a doctor that you can actually deal with!

Well here I think I might be going into early labour. But then I've wondered that since Friday Grin not going to be tmi but things seem to be going in the right direction. I had a wave of contractions yesterday for about 3 hours which then stopped sigh, but according to Dr Google this morning I should not have to wait that long any more! Who knows?

Had DH ring the hospital at 4.30 am as it felt like a huuuge bruise on my lower right bump which even the baby bless her moved away from for me. Turns out it was just a pulled muscle. Thank goodness.

I felt very sick again yesterday during the day and it has been some time since it has been a daytime sick feeling. So far the only safe foods are crumpets which I have now run out of, carbonara (no chicken just bacon), gala melon, milk, orange juice mixed with tonic and cheeseburgers from McDs. And diet coke. That is actually my diet right now. Sadface. Thank goodness for the melon and the milk otherwise I would be totally depressed about nutrition instead of just upset about it.

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday :)

livingzuid · 25/05/2014 06:42

Oh and hope you are feeling better lucinda migranes are the pits :(

Booboostoo · 25/05/2014 08:20

Thank you for the medication recommendations, fingers crossed the Greek doc will be sympathetic.

Living oh I hope things are progressing this morning and you're not in too much pain!!!

I wanted to add something else to the discussion but i have no idea what now. I survived a 3.5 hour part for 3yo DD yesterday only to come down with sinusitis overnight so the joy of pregnancy continues!

SassehMonsta · 25/05/2014 09:31

Sick twice yesterday (morning & evenin, both bile) and again this morning (breakfast was nice going down but awful coming up). Generally feeling crap & down and suffering since lunch yesterday with acid reflux, but cant take anything for it. Waaaah. Really want to be well enough to take my dog on a training walk this morning, so hoping nausea buggers off in next 15-20 mins - yeah right. :-(

missed my meds last night as fell asleep before I took them.

Hope everyone keeping as ok as can.be. Xxx

mrsb87 · 25/05/2014 09:32

Hi guys! I haven't posted for a while but I've been lurking. I'm taking full advantage of feeling nearly well in my second trimester. Still having my morning bile runs before a bowl of cheerios sorts me out! I was so tired after work this week that I slept for full 12hrs! I must say it was the best sleep I've had for a few weeks and was bloody lovely!
living how exciting for you! I hope it is labour and not just a cruel trick!
okla and lottie how are you guys?

Oklahoma · 25/05/2014 10:35

MrsB12h without even a pee break!? I am very envious!!

You and Lottie are giving me hope that there might be light at the end of the tunnel.

Oklahoma · 25/05/2014 10:36

And Living I really hope this is it for you!

livingzuid · 25/05/2014 12:13

I think I was overexcited, all has stopped :( gutted! This baby is going to make me wait I think!

mrsb87 · 25/05/2014 12:17

okla from what dh said I did pee about 10 pm and again at 6:30 am. Not that I'm aware of any of this!
Aww sorry living I've just read on the October thread that raspberry leaf tea is good for inducing labour? If you can stand it, maybe it's worth a shot?

LucindaE · 25/05/2014 12:33

Oh dear, things not too brilliant all round, by the looks of things.
Gentle pats on offer.

Hi all, following advice from you lovely ladies I went back to GP and asked to try something else (was on Cyclizine) GP was really lovely and called the hospital where I am booked and they suggested Metaclopromide. Was at the surgery for nearly 3 hours as 1 hour waiting to be seen, then urine sample had protein and was very dark so GP gave me a ticking off for not drinking enough and has threatened me with having to be admitted to hospital if it doesn't improve. She took my blood pressure which was really high and made me lay down in another room for ages, the practise nurse came to take my bp again later and she just so happens to be DH's exgf's mother and a complete cow who took great pleasure in telling me how "BIG" my arms are, hence why I should have my bp done with a large cuff. She then came back 5 mins later to measure my "BIG"arms just to confirm I should have the large cuff and still carried on about my big arms and large cuff but by this point I wasn't really listening..........Cow.

DH and I have both to go back on Tuesday for blood tests as DH may have Slapped Cheek Syndrome.

Anyway Metaclopromide really isn't working so have had to revert back to Cyclizine which is marginally better but marginally is better than nothing I suppose.

Lottiedoubtie · 25/05/2014 21:25

mam. You can take both together if that helps? I find the effects cumulative, things get better after a few days on the pills. Your practice nurse sounds like a bitch, I'd be tempted to complain about her, just to get your own back Wink but then that's probably not the best use of prescious energy ATM.

I've had a nice but exhausting day out with my nephews today, preparing for the life that is to come Wink . Feeling quite well though, nausea is still there but definitely manageable now.

Meerka · 25/05/2014 22:14

living thinking of you. it took several false starts with me for labour to really kick in (as well as the unspeakably horrible failed inductions!) so if you're the same don't be too surprised, but maybe you'll get lucky =) Fingers very much crossed for you

mampan, ! at the nurse! it -is- worth asking for diff drugs if the Meto isnt working. It can take several attempts to get the right meds.

lottie good to hear you're having a better day.

SassehMonsta · 25/05/2014 23:48

Just had to sit with my best friend as she went through the admission to hospital malarky. Shes 14 weeks & we had thought she was over the worst of it, but no. Admitted with 4+ ketones for rehydration. Glad I was able to go with her as her husband was 2 hours away playing a gig with his band! Stayed with her until dh turned up to look after her. Was nice to be able to reassure her and let her know what would happen, as I was so confused when I was in her situation, despite having my dad with me. Hope she gets the help she needs (cyclazine was doing ok but became less effective).

At one point in the Drs we both had a sick bowl and were feeling rather green-gilled together. Smile Wore myself out this morning, rested all afternoon,Drs/AnE this evening, now home to sleeeeeeep.

livingzuid · 26/05/2014 07:35

mam god I would put a complaint in. How unprofessional of that woman. Poor you. What a vindictive bitch! FWIW I am sure you don't have big arms!

sasseh that was very nice of you to stay, your poor friend. Hope you are feeling a bit better this morning and your fluid levels are back up?

lottie DH and I resolved to do something yesterday no matter what, so we went to sit outside at this lovely restaurant on the river and drink diet coke. I even managed some calamari which is still a safe food yay bizarrely enough. It's nice to do normal things isn't it even just for an hour or two. I was exhausted last night though - hope you are not too tired today?

meerka gaah seriously. I time them, they are real contractions, they are around 15 mins apart and then they £*$%"$ well stop after a couple of hours! I can't walk far at all any more without being in huge discomfort, there are twinges and twangs and things going on all the time. I can feel how low she is in my pelvis, feel her hands pushing around either side of my cervix at the bottom, yet nada! And I feel soooo sick! I am 39 weeks today. I really want to avoid induction but :( I have a feeling that's the route they will go down. Still, what will be will be I guess. She's wriggling away happily still so that's good.

Some very nice news I had today was that my SIL is pregnant again with DC2 :) so I will be an auntie. I miss them all very much as they are in NZ but DH and I discussed a savings strategy to go and see them maybe at the end of next year, so yay for a holiday and to see my family :)

livingzuid · 26/05/2014 07:37

I will be an auntie again I meant to say. DN is 6 bless her and so adorable. Very excited to have a sibling. They have been trying for years as well so it's double nice news. Also might try and go to Australia to see my family for a few days there as well if we have time but very keen to show DH New Zealand too. Having nice stuff to plan and look forward to makes the sickness a bit less :)

Meerka · 26/05/2014 08:08

Oh lovely news living :)

in truth induction isnt that bad, actually, as long as you don't have a cervix that's on the wrong side and way too high up. That's why my inductoins failed. They just couldn't get to the cervix to really work on that side of things as well as the hormone gel & foley catheter. So if you're one of the big majority of women who have their cervix in the 'right' place, you'll be ok.

PunkStar · 26/05/2014 09:35

Aw Living hope things progress soon! I have nothing going on at all, no twinges, pains, back pain...nothing!!!!
I feel I can cope a little better knowing this is the last week for definite though, if it wasn't for the CS I would be having great emotional turmoil!
Congrats on auntie news :-)

Started to take ondansetron, has kicked vom cycle in the bud... stopped taking again now but will use as back up if returns.

Managed to visit friend y'day! She had a hand made quilt for new bab, the gift of time!! She also had cake which I could eat and enjoy :-)

LucindaE · 26/05/2014 10:41

Sasseh It was good of you to sit with your friend when you're feeling awful yourself. I do hope she joins us on here, this is lonely condition.
Livinzuid Sorry about those pains, that sounds awful, I do so hope it is soon over for you.
Punkstar Looking forward to an end of the torment for you!
mrsb87 Great about such a long sleep.
Lottie Glad y ou had a nice day, if tiring.
Mereka I think some people have had reasonable experiences of inductions. I had such a bad one, with the baby's head not turning, which is a risk with one, leading to forceps delivery, unusual infection of cut etc that I have to say I wouldn't recommend one,but I'm sure others can say their experience was fine.
Mampam I am a bit concerned too - do you have those famous kesostix to check for dehydration? I am [angyr] about that spiteful nurse behaving in an unprofessional way and I think you should report her, explaining the situation!
We haven't heard from Sarah in a little while?

ouch, lucinda you did mention once you'd had a really bad time after the birth - sounds horrendous.

Hoping people are okay-as-possible

LucindaE · 26/05/2014 18:23

Meerka Well, I didn't suffer anything like as much with sickness as many on here, you included!
I also hope Everyone is coping, keeping pesky ketones down...

livingzuid · 26/05/2014 21:04

punk yay for having a normalish day even with the dreaded ondansetron! That present sounds lovely. DM gave me the blanket my grandma had knitted for me so we could use it with DD. They are special, handmade things aren't they?

I waver between feeling giddy with excitement and paralysed with fear as to the next week or so - I can't get into my head that in less than two weeks I will have a baby. It seems so surreal. But go us :) We ordered the final bits today, a sling and a baby bouncer which we'd forgotten to get. My hospital bag and the baby's bag are pretty much ready to go. So it's just counting down to Friday and my appointment. If nothing happens before then. It just feels soooo strange all of a sudden.

meerka thank you as ever for the words of wisdom. My obstetrician said everything was in the right place, they just wanted me to be more ripe. Which sounds like I am some kind of bizarre fruit but there you go! I had no idea induction could be so complicated, poor you and lucinda as well. The things I have learnt about the human body in pregnancy. I had no idea I was that ignorant before!

CurlsNoMore · 26/05/2014 22:35

Hello all. I'm not sure if I shld be on the board or not. This is my 3rd pregnancy, although had a missed miscarriage before Christmas. Happily I am 8wks tomo - scan shows all is going well. UnfortunTely this time I've been laid up when with near constant nausea and vomiting 3x a day. I don't think it is HG as I can eat and drink (first pg I just had nausea and ate only apples and sips of lemonade till 14wks). But emotionally this time around I feel beaten. My OH has looked after our 2yr all bank holiday weekend as I have napped/ laid still/ stayed by the loo. For the past three weekends I've thought I've had stomach bug but surely I can't have it three weekends in a roll? I'm now doubting I want the pregnNcy (which of course I do), but I just can't function - let alone care for my daughter or go to work. Weirdly for past two weeks I've been able to cope during my three days at work. But it is getting stronger. I assume it is just bad morning sickness. Apologies to those with HG as I realise I'm v lucky not to be that severe but I just don't seem to be able to cope.

elizabethsmum · 26/05/2014 22:40

Hi all
Sorry have not been around for a while - just managed to skim read through some of the thread- it is so busy apologies for everything I have probably missed out!
Hope you are now recovered from your migraine lucinda
Keeping fingers crossed that babies punk and zuid are soon going to put in their appearances! Know what you mean about the end of pregnancy and sickness- on top of everything else I had a terrible tummy bug, simultaneously with DD1 a few days before the twins arrived- it just about finished me off!!

With regard to all the recent comments about cyclizine- it def worked better for me second time round in the second trimester once I think it had properly had a chance to get into my system once I was able to keep it down more regularly (it is obviously pretty ineffective otherwise I suppose ) whereas some of the stronger meds like ondansetron I guess have a bit more effect even if you are struggling to keep them down??

Sparkling drinks- I found elderflower presse worked best for me!( had to be bottle green)

Mcd's - it was chic milkshake and fillet of fish all the way for me!!

So interesting how there are so many common themes in hg!!

Waves at everyone and sending hugs, positive thoughts and the like your way for a better few days for eeveryone x

elizabethsmum · 26/05/2014 22:41

Choc milkshake of course!!
