D niece is getting christened in a few weeks and I have just realised I don't have anything nice that still fits! I will be 32 weeks (29 now) and still have a small ish bump. I am size 8 and was very slim before getting PG but now I seem to have a bit of a muffin top around my hips Sad What sort of thing can I buy that is suitable for christening? I don't want anything frumpy and don't want to look like I'm wearing a tent. I also have quite small budget looking at £30 max for an outfit. any ideas on what to wear or where to start? Thanks Smile

New Look or Asos have decent mat clothes that don't cost the earth.

Asos have some lovely maternity dresses that aren't too dear - luckily where they have room for the bump they also sneak over any lumps & bumps around the hips! It should be reasonably summery by then & it's supposed to be a joyful occasion, so you shouldn't need anything too formal Smile.

Have a look at JoJoMamanBaby maternity/nursing dresses.. They are about 35pound very versatile, I've got two worn one to a wedding the other to a christening can dress up with heels or down with leggings and boots. They have wrap top and "nursing slots" so you can get your money's worth and wear if planning to BF too!

Here is a link to one www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/sp+floral-tie-front-maternity-nursing-dress-in-maternity-dresses+b4884 but they have LOADS of patterns/styles

I went to a christening two weeks ago (was 36 weeks at the time) and felt exactly the same as you and get really depressed at the thought of feeling/looking frumpy!

I ended up buying a really pretty skater style dress from Primark. Pink with grey and black flowers on an was a size 10 but fit over my bump perfectly because of the cut of the dress and with the added bonus that I'll be able to wear it again after baby is born. Only draw back was that I ended up having to wear it with leggings rather then the planned tights as my bump grew a little in between buying and the occasion itself so I felt a little self conscious about it being short at the front but I have to admit it did look nice and I felt pretty Grin (I'm 24 btw not entirely sure how relevant that is other then maybe what kind of style clothes I'd buy!)

All in including some ballerina pumps I bought I spent about £20.

Maxi dresses all the way I wore one to BIL wedding. You can dress them up or down x

Good luck finding something Smile I know how hard it is to feel good at the moment so a nice outfit can make all the difference! And have a fab time at the christening Smile

Thanks Smile i found an outfit after 2 hours of trying on. went for a cream and navy stripy midi dress with a turquoise blazer. All for under £25, bargain!
