cramping or start of labour?

I'm 40+1 and for the whole day I've had bad period type cramps. The pain is constant and my bump is hard.

I've not experienced this before :-/
I've had cramping off and on before but not with a hard bump.

Google is no help, anyone got any idea what it could be?
I've not got my hopes up just very uncomfortable :(

Still cramping off and on irregularly. last night was very uncomfortable :(

I hope so! bump has been very tight and painful for the past hour. Bah I wish I could get something more certain than just twinges x

That is how both my labours started :-) good luck.
About a day on and off then it all kicked off x

I hope it's the start of something but I don't want to get my hopes up too much! xx
