HI guys,

So it is just that really, how much should I be feeling the baby move at this stage? I can only say with 100% certainty that I have felt the baby moving 2 or 3 times. Should I be feeling more than this at this stage? x

Really it depends on your body type...like me i had very toned tummy muscles from the work ive always done, and i am slim build. I started to feel flutters from 13wks and they got stronger and stronger as weeks went by. I noticed a pattern by 20wks. Every woman is different though, some dont even feel movement till 22wks. Do you get any twitch like feelings in your tum? As to me thats what our lil mans kicks feel like. Like when you have a twitch in your arms or legs. You might have felt loads of moevment but passed it of as wind lol i know the differnece between wind though :p x

I have felt a few times little twitches, I think I'm just a bit on edge at the minute as we were trying for a long time. Will feel much better after my scan on Tuesday!! Thanks xx

I started feeling 'something' at about 17/18 weeks. When it's your first (as mine is) it's sometimes hard to know what you're feeling for to start with but it's like little muscle spasms I think. I'm almost 23 weeks and starting to see my bump move too. I wouldn't worry too much, I think it does depend on your body type too:-)

I'm really slim and didn't feel
Anything until 22 weeks. D

I think it more depends on where your placenta is than "body type". If your placenta is at the front of your bump (anterior) then you often don't feel the baby move until later on.

If you have your scan notes it might be noted on there where you placenta is.

I'm also slim and online talk that it should mean I feel things early resulted in a tearful/scared call to my midwife!

She categorically said for a 1st, regardless of body size or even placenta, it was "quite normal" not to have regular movements till 24 weeks. I am high risk so this is even with caution at a high risk consultant led hospital type set up.
I am 18 weeks and have light tickles, ant-walking sensations and pops. Little pattern if any.

If you're worried, call them - at 22 weeks they may scan you to reassure but you're within then bounds of normal!

This is my 2nd and I'm nearly 20 weeks. Have felt baby move for weeks now and getting proper kicks as opposed to flutters or twitches but I felt dd move very early and I am FAT! I mean, I've a huge belly on me.
I honestly think it's down to each person and different for everyone.
I wouldn't worry. I still can't feel a pattern to the kicks.
My friend didn't feel baby until 24 weeks and even then it was flutters and pops. She's due in a few weeks now and getting more than kicks!
Easier said than done but relax. It won't be long before you're pushing feet out of your ribs Wink
