I'm sure I read somewhere that you shouldn't eat minced meats when I was pregnant last. I love a good cottage pie or meatballs and am now panicking that I can't eat them. Also my cooking repertoire seems to be limited to dishes that contain minced meats. Do you eat them?

as log as they are thoroughly cooked of course you can eat them - it is undercooked meats that are an issue

Why should I avoid some foods during pregnancy?

Yes, NHS, NCT and mumsnet (I use these as 'sane' advice pages as others can be based on nonsense) say they are fine. If you cook them fully - i.e. fry it off then cook it in a sauce as most recipes require, they'll be perfectly safe.

In fact I found them the most appetising recipes when coming out of morning sickness - classics, they felt nourishing but not too highly flavoured.

Thanks both
