For the past couple of nights i get really bad period type pains/cramps that go around my lower back and bottom of my bump. They kinda have a warming sensation to them aswel but i cant get comfy or sleep when this happens...just wondered if it is normal. I have no bleeding or signs of early labour etc. im 26wks and baby still wriggling away like mad everyday. I also let myself get worried by these wich i know i shouldnt -.- im due hospital wensday for my monthly check up lol going to explain then but would just like to hear some other peoples stories as it will hopefully stop me worrying less 0.o x

Bump

Boogles I have had this for most of the 2nd and 3rd trimesters and several explanations as to what it might be. The one that seems to fit is that I have a sensitive uterus and the weight of the baby is irritating the ligaments that are attempting to support the bump causing the cramps - which wrap around from my back to my front lower abdomen. Think of them as painful Braxton Hicks (another explanation that was given to me). I was checked by the hospital for them at 32 weeks because they got really painful but they weren't affecting my cervix at all - which remained closed for business.

I coped with them by taking two paracetamol and jamming a hot water bottle up against my back which helped them subside enough for me to sleep. I was told they are nothing to worry about - that said I'd definitely call the hospital if they get any worse, if you have any bleeding or (obviously) if your waters break. And definitely mention them to your midwife when you see her on Weds.
