I have now had a cold (not a bad one, just gunk and sore throat and stuffed-upness and coughing at night and general yuck) for OVER FOUR WEEKS and am losing the will to live. Not being able to take sudafed or lemsips or anything much to help is miserable. Think it doesn't help that the coughing has formed an unholy alliance with needing the loo and they're combining to wake me up at least every couple of hours every night.
Is it just pregnancy that's making it hang around this long? Have a midwife appointment later - should I mention it to her or am I just being a massive wimp? :(
Mostly just wanted to moan but if anyone knows of any pregnancy-friendly remedies please let me know!

You poor thing. I would go with a couple of doses of paracetamol a day, hot honey and lemon and Olbas Oil / Vicks for congestion. Plus lots of water and rest when you can Brew

I've had that cold, it was awful and lasted forever so you have my sympathy!
I just added more vitamin C to my diet, so ate a lot of kale etc, drank loads of water, did that head over a bowl of hot water with olbas oil in it, covered myself in Vicks and rested as much as possible.

Not much else you can do unfortunately :(

Vicks in hot water, as others have said. It just drags, doesn't it? :(

I feel your pain - I've just gotten over a cold which turned into laryngitis and I felt crap for a month, I couldn't talk for most of it. I saw a doctor who confirmed it wasn't a chest infection, but she said it's just viral which means let nature take its course, and in the meantime paracetamol if I needed it, lots of fluids, hot drinks, throat sweets, steam inhalation, rest (and no talking because it was laryngitis).

Do you need to see a doctor to rule out a chest or sinus infection? Steam does help (put your head over a bowl with hot water and a few drops of olbas or Vicks in it, put towel on head and breathe!). Warm baths are good too.

Hope you're feeling better soon
