Wrist pain - Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

Hi all.

I'm 39 + 5 with DC and suffering excruciating pain in my right wrist from thumb right down to just below the palm. The little round bones are painful to touch.

Pain started on Monday and I have tried both cold and hot compress. I've taken ibuprofen as there's a little swelling and also got a tube grip type bandage. The pain is sharp, not constant but it comes with movement of wrist. It has sometimes reduced me to tears.

I have a 16 month old toddler too and now can't seem to do much with my right hand.

I'm now in bed in tears not knowing whether I should go to A&E or to walk in centre. I can't go on

Hi abby poor you! Sounds like you are in a lot of pain. I had carpal tunnel with my last pregnancy so am expecting it this time. It was definitely worse in my thumb and fingers on that side of my hand. I found it better when my wrist was in a 'neutral' position ( this stops the nerve being compressed). If it is CT it will go once swelling has gone down after birth. If you are worried perhaps go to walk in centre to check. Hope you got some sleep (mine was always worse at night) and all goes well with your little one. You are nearly there!

Thank you Ruby. I ended up going to the walk in centre. Doctor said it's actually tendonitis and gave me painkillers on a low dose. As I am due Sunday, I'm unable to take ibuprofen but can use a gel. It is too painful for sure. I hope it goes away.
