NT, NIFTY or Harmony - your opinions?

I'm 7+2 and aged 41 and am very keen to have one of the three tests above. They don't offer NT where I live stupid, useless Welsh Government and so private is my only option.

NT is 195 and done from 11+3 90% accuracy
NIFTY is 320 and done from 10 weeks. 99.9% accurate
Harmony is 550 and done from 10 weeks. 99% accuracy

Can anyone share their experiences? I am leaning towards the NIFTY but would be grateful for any personal stories. TIA.

No experience OP as had NT on nhs but looking at your options nifty seems like the best to me. If you go with the NT you may spend the following 29 weeks wondering and worrying if you were in 10% and harmony seems like extra expense for same odds. Good luck with whatever you choose x

I had NIFTY and it was handled by NHS. my test results going in were 1:37 (I'm 34) and nifty came back negative. I would've paid for harmony if i had to though. good luck!

You know what, looking back at my original post, it's a no brainer really isn't it? NIFTY it is. Agree I'm not sure the NT would give me enough certainty.

I paid for harmony despite being in my 20s for me I wanted more reassurance. I don't know as much about nifty but it sounds like a great compromise for the cost.

I took the harmony test but it failed twice luckily I had a great NT result so im not worried

I did the harmony after an NT of 1:240... I was still classed as low risk but I was very upset about it - especially when my midwife told me my bloods were typical of someone carrying a downs baby - from that point I thought our baby was downs. The harmony came back as a low risk result - less than 1:10000. They only give you low risk being less than 1:10000 or high risk 1:2 - none of this wishy washy 1:240's type results.

I will never do the NHS NT test again as it freaked me out and gave me a month of worry before I then decided to get the much more accurate and better Harmony test.

PS I hadnt heard about the Nifty when I had the Harmony done.. which was only a month or so ago - does sound just as good - except you don't find out the gender.

Good luck - bet ur baby is super groovy no probs ;) My nan had 8 babies her last when she was 43 and all of them were perfect x no scans back then either!

Hi, I had the NIFTY; it was £295. Highly recommend it. I started a thread about it on the antenatal testing board a few months back; search for something along the lines of 'my experiencenof the nifty as an alternative to the harmony'. The post explains the process and my very positive experience.

I'm going for nifty as they do it in the north. Apparently you also find out the gender.

At age 41 your age related risk is 1 in 80 (I know as I am 41 and have just been through this.....) so the bloods and scan need to be flipping amazing to get a low risk result result overall. The Harmony and Nifty tests do not factor age in the algorithm to calculate the risk so you would have the same chance as a younger woman as getting a low risk result.

Last pregnancy I had a 1 in 4 risk of Downs which meant a CVS (which was clear) and fetal cardiac echo and kidney tests etc etc all unnecessarily as it turns out
I opted for the Harmony as it was £400 at fetal medicine centre and all was good but the NT results came back just outside the high risk

My friend had NIFTY done after getting a false high risk result on a NT test (she was only 27 and wanted to avoid amnio) and was very pleased and reassured by the procedure and results.
Wish I could be more helpful but just thought I would pass that on!
