How early did you show with your second (am thinking this is twins)

9.4weeks. Second child. Am round. Honestly have a bump that comes up from my pubic bone, is relatively hard, and is clearly an obvious baby bump.

I know my dates are correct as we dtd day before and day after ovulation (and had tested negative day before previous period).

My boobs have gone massive. My tiredness levels are low low. I know you show earlier with your second but this is astounding me. I cant bear anything cutting across my stomach, even if only slightly tight.

Could it be a multiple pg or is this standard with second pregnancies?

I'm 6weeks with DC 2 and I am massive! It's really common apparently the hormones soften the whole area not just the uterus and as everything has been through this before it gets mushy quick Grin. I had a scan this week and it was only 1 in there even though my stomach is huge so I wouldn't worry
Good luck to you

Yep, sounds about right. I've been in maternity clothes since about 10 weeks and now at 12.5w am absolutely massive. We took photos of every week with DS1 and at 11.5w was as big as I was at 20w last time! its a very solid bump too so not just extra cake :) From what I've heard it's totally normal with DC2.

Thank god this isnt abnormal (or certain to be twins).

Am desperate for bigger bras Sad

9/10 weeks. Am now 30 weeks and it's not twins. I showed really early, but actually I think at this point, I'm smaller than I was with DC1 – I don't have anything like the water retention, bump is much higher and lots of people have commented on how neat it is. So just because you're feeling big now, it doesn't necessarily mean you'll be massive later on!

wasabipeanut · 26/03/2014 15:40

With my third I had a bump by 7 weeks and was in maternity gear by 10. I was convinced it was twins and absolutely terrified at the prospect.

12 week scan showed just the one - and he's still massive! I clearly had no stomach muscles left to speak of.

musicalmrs · 26/03/2014 16:14

I've been wondering the same! 11 weeks here with DC2, and have been showing since five weeks - with extreme symptoms in comparison to last time. I suspect it's down to knackered stomach muscles, being older and having a toddler to run after.. but that doesn't stop the thought of twins.

Scan tomorrow, so hopefully we'll find out what's going on then!

Artandco · 26/03/2014 16:32

Complete opposite here. Didn't have any symptoms or show at all until 22 weeks.. Or know myself :) made for a quick pregnancy though as ds2 arrived at 37 weeks. 15 months after ds1. And I had gone back ino size 8 jeans within 6 weeks of ds1 so wasn't excess baby weight hiding new bump

amy246 · 26/03/2014 19:00

I thought I was having twins, turned out I was a bit further along than I thought! Thought I was 12 weeks at my scan but I was 16!

theborrower · 26/03/2014 20:40

I was in mat trousers at 9 weeks I think, because my other clothes just felt uncomfortable. I caught a colleague staring at my tummy too! But I think it was just bloat, and my tummy muscles are not the same so they're not holding it in as well as they did first time around. I'm now about 26 weeks and today someone said "are you sure there's not two in there?!" Then proceeded to tell me that when she was pregnant she was enormous because she had a condition to do with too much fluid. Cheers, thanks.

dimdommilpot · 26/03/2014 21:46

Same as the first, started getting a tummy around 22 weeks. I hide them well.

OhNoGeorge · 26/03/2014 21:49

I looked obviously pregnant with a bump by 9/10 weeks with my second - several people guessed before I announced the pregnancy. It was just one in there though!

spideysenses · 26/03/2014 22:10

Had a bump at about 9-10 weeks with second but with my third I was obviously pregnant at seven weeks to the point of people asking why I hadn't told them sooner Confused

StrawberryGashes · 26/03/2014 22:11

I was showing then with both dc2 and now dc3. Neither pregnancies have been twins. I didn't show until much later with dc1.

EeeekItsTwins · 26/03/2014 22:18

Couldn't do up my work trousers from about 6 or 7 weeks this time - and it is twins.

Although I didn't seriously consider the possibility of twins until we were told at our 12 week scan, looking back I was so much more tired, sick, and hungry than in my previous preg - these should have been more of a warning than me showing early!

weebairn · 27/03/2014 08:12

13 weeks here with DC2 and no bump, in my normal clothes fine; feels like everyone is showing earlier with no 2 except me! Well I've had my scan now so I'm not worried any more, at least I don't have to tell work for a bit.

I did do quite a bit of pilates / yoga / core work between babies, but nothing too mental, maybe it's just random how bodies are?? I am a size 8/10 no six pack or anything, always have a soft little belly anyway, did before baby no 1 too. I am a shortie so I don't know where they hide! Last time I didn't get a bump till about 20 weeks and not really obvious till after 30.

Still took me 7 months post-baby to get back into my normal jeans though!

weebairn · 27/03/2014 08:13

Boobs haven't grown this time but I think that may be because I'm still breastfeeding??

weebairn · 27/03/2014 08:14

Oh and to second what hubbahubster said, people I know who had early bumps (with no 1 or 2) weren't necessarily bigger later on in the pregnancy.

I hope that's true! If I keep growing at this rate, I'm worried I'll topple over by the time I get to 40 weeks! I'm only 5'1" Smile

Missingcaffeine · 27/03/2014 08:42

I had an obvious bump with this one (my first) from 9 weeks. Clothes were tight from 8 weeks. Bump so obvious, that the GP thought I might be closer to 14 weeks - he could feel my uterus and found babies heartbeat with a doppler. I had a scan, which showed my dates were about 10 days out, but even so, only one baby and big bump very early.

Gen35 · 27/03/2014 11:26

Am 13 wks dc2, can get my trousers done up but it's gotten really uncomfortable, maternity clothes shopping this weekend!
