When is the peak in morning sickness?

I'm 8 weeks and feel nauseous all the time. No actual sickness thankfully, just feeling rubbish.
I heard it peaks at 9 weeks, does anyone know if that's true? Just gives me something to aim for.
Thanks.

Mine was definitely worst at 8-9 weeks. 12 weeks now and I just get waves of it sometimes. It was constant then.

Bumpsadaisie · 16/03/2014 14:06

I'd say it peaks at 8-12 weeks, gets a bit better by 15-17 weeks and much better by 17-20 weeks. By the time you have your 20 week scan you'll hopefully be feeling much better.

Fivemoreminutesmummy · 16/03/2014 14:46

Thank you! Fingers crossed not too much longer.

Mine definitely peaked around 7 to 9 weeks and around the time of my 12 wk scan it quite quickly stopped, almost overnight. I'm 18 wks now and haven't had any nausea since 13 wks. It does get better!! Like you, I had mostly nausea (with retching) and hardly any actual vomiting. Crystallised ginger was a lifesaver for me. There were times when I had a wave of nausea and started to retch, I'd pop a piece of it into my mouth and voila, it stopped!

FirsttimerG · 16/03/2014 14:55

I had very little but was worst 7-9 weeks. Now at 10 plus 2 and with the exception of very sore breasts and major tiredness I am symptom free. Some smells still set me off though. And heat. Xxx

Fivemoreminutesmummy · 16/03/2014 15:05

I can't stand the smell of almost everything. I'm finding most things irritating too (poor DH)
This is actually my 3rd pregnancy but with DC1 I actually vomited which made things better briefly and with DC2 I had not a single symptom (and was convinced I wasn't pregnant)

Mine peaked at 17 weeks - joy!

eurochick · 16/03/2014 18:40

Mine didn't start until 9 weeks. It peaked around 11-12 weeks I think.

Honeybear30 · 16/03/2014 18:41

firsttimerG I could have written your post! I also was only feeling sick weeks 7-9, and I'm now 11+6 and feeling fine apart from sore boobs. I don't feel pregnant at all and have my scan on Tuesday, I'm so nervous!

OP I think it is just so different for everyone, there is no way of knowing.

PeggyTheGuineaPig · 16/03/2014 18:42

I'd say 8-14 weeks. It's horrible isn't it, I really do sympathise Flowers.

ScarlettOHaraHamilton · 16/03/2014 18:42

15w was my utter worst, mainly because it hadn't remotely passed and everyone said it would at 12w and I had nightmares that it would last my entire pregnancy. It didn't, but it didn't start to ease off until at least 20w. That's a minority though.

SwimmingMom · 16/03/2014 18:44

8,9,10,11 are the worst! After that there is hope!

FirsttimerG · 16/03/2014 19:20

Honeybear30 - my scan isn't until 13 weeks 5 days, I am so nervous! Just have to try to relax and hope everything is ok!

Fivemoreminutesmummy · 16/03/2014 19:54

Good luck with your scans both of you. I have a booking appointment this week, can't wait for scan.

Oh that's cruel making you wait so long! I was so pleased when my letter came and it's scheduled for 12+1. I'm just so nervous that there won't be anything in there! I figure getting pregnant has just set me up for a lifetime of worry though so I am trying to be as rational as possible. I know Tuesday morning I'll be a wreck. Hopefully Tuesday afternoon I'll be on cloud 9!

FirsttimerG · 16/03/2014 20:36

You'll have to let us know how it goes! I guess it's impossible not to worry.
This is the first time I've been pregnant and its so light on symptoms I am so worried! I am also abroad in week 12 so its probably my fault that its so late. Bad timing!!

Writerwannabe83 · 16/03/2014 21:15

I felt nauseous from about 8 weeks pregnant but the actual sickness didn't kick in until about 14 weeks and it was horrendous!!! It was just hell. Thankfully it only lasted about a week but I spent my time in a heap on the bathroom floor just crying to myself Grin

Sweetpea86 · 16/03/2014 21:42

Mine kicked in 5 weeks but was at its worse from 7 to about 18 sick up to 15 times a day. 36 weeks it's gone almost fingers crossed.

Worst thing I've ever had to go through wouldn't wish it on any one. I feel your pain

icklekid · 17/03/2014 05:48

I will let you know. ..23 weeks...on medication still. But I think I am quite unfortunate and most people are better by 12 weeks!

Honeybear30 · 18/03/2014 20:10

Just dropping in to say that my scan went perfectly well today! Nice wriggly baby :) a little further along than I thought, about 5 days, so perhaps why my sickness stopped quicker than I thought it would?

Flickstar · 18/03/2014 20:36

I agree 8-10 weeks were awful, definite peak.

Pregnantberry · 18/03/2014 20:42

For me weeks 7-8 were terrible for all day nausea with occasional vomiting, week 9 all of my symptoms went away and freaked me out, weeks 10-12 MS was back with a vengeance, but this time I was throwing up every day but not constantly nauseous, which I actually preferred. Week 13, the MS tapered off but still didn't enjoy food very much.

I am 14 weeks now and the last couple of days I have finally gotten my appetite back!

Pregnantberry · 18/03/2014 20:44

Congrats Honeybear, it was the wriggly/bounciness which amazed me the most at my scan!

FirsttimerG · 18/03/2014 20:45

Honeybear30 that's great news, congratulations!! Gosh I can't wait for mine. It seems so far away!

imisssleepandwine · 18/03/2014 20:46

6 to 12 weeks was the worst for me, my appetite came back at 14 weeks I'm gradually getting better. Smells still make me feel ill as does letting to much tome pass between meals but I'm at 16 weeks and feeling much better. good luck OP I hope it passes soon...
