Can't feel baby move yet

Hello I am 18weeks with my first baby and I haven't felt baby move, not that I am aware of anyway and I am trying to pay attention!

I had a midwife app a couple of weeks ago and they picked up baby's heartbeat straight away and it was strong but I am one of life's worriers. I know they say u may not feel baby move as early on with first baby...I am pretty sure I have a small growing bump but as I see myself everyday it's hard to really tell.

Any reassuring advice?? Xx

I think it's onwards of 20ish weeks before you feel your first baby move... that's what I remember anyway! It feels like wind, like bubbles in your tummy

I didn't find out I was pg until 20 weeks with my eldest, so I certainly didn't feel her move before that!

There is a charity Count The Kicks about raising awareness of movement and even they say you only expect it by 20 weeks: however everyone is different and it may be even later. So it looks like there's time yet to wait for you within the 'normal' time. countthekicks.org.uk/mums/your-babys-movements/

Hope that is reasuring. They say to call the MW with any movement concerns so maybe do that?

I went on the website, I think all will be ok, still quite early on. I have my scan soon so hopefully that will make me feel better!

I remember my sister didn't feel movement for quite a while because the placenta was at the front, which wasn't a problem for her in any way but just meant she didn't feel kicks for a while. Most women I know started feeling it around 20 weeks give or take so you're absolutely fine now.

Smidge it's quite possible you have an anterior (at the front) placenta, which tends to muffle the movements. They normally check where it is and will tell you at 20 week scan. I felt some movements from 16 weeks (3rd baby) but much less than with previous pregnancies and even now at 26 weeks the movements are only on my right side as my placenta is attached front left. If everything was fine at 16 weeks then no news is good news at the moment.

I was 21 before I felt anything and even then it was ever so light feelings.

I was 23 weeks before I knew for definite I was feeling my baby kick. I have an anterior placenta and its my first baby so it seemed like an age until I felt anything. I understand the worry though. The period between my scan at 12 weeks telling me everything was fine and my scan at 20 weeks seemed like a lifetime!

I went to my 20 week scan with a flat stomach and having felt no movements. Everything was fine, my placenta was at the front so all the kicks were muted.

It was about week 23 before I could really feel the movements.

Baby is a healthy one month old now that has very strong kicks!

I felt some movements around 18wks but wasn't until last week where I felt definite movement. To me it felt like I was getting flicked from the inside, really made me giggle when I saw them. I'm 20 wks now and feel them quite regularly and everyday. Some days more active than others but was told this is normal at this stage. My first baby by the way too :)

I'm 22 weeks + 4 days, it's my first baby and today is the first day I have had some strange butterfly like sensations. Not really in my stomach, more towards the intestines so this could be it.
I also have a low lying placenta so maybe that is why it's happened a little later.

With my DD I felt nothing until 19 weeks and then only some weird bubbles in my lower stomach and then at my scan I found out I had an anterior placenta and only felt my first proper movements at 23 weeks which felt like being on massive rollercoaster and made me feel a bit sick!!
Trust me she made up for it later on and kept me awake some nights till all hours dancing away!! and I'm sure your little one will too xxx

Hi, I was 22 weeks with DS1, 19 weeks with DS2 and about 15 weeks with DS3, but he was huge from the start. It does feel like wind, but less so the more often you feel it.

I'm 19 weeks tomorrow with my first and not felt anything! Feel a little worried at times like you but scan next week to look forward to!

Just wanted to weigh in an encourage Smidge - I'm not 34 weeks but didn't feel baby move until 20 weeks and, as others have said, then it didn't feel like kicks so much as flutters / bubbles.

Just to give you some reassurance, I don't think the nhs will even consider being concerned about you not feeling movement until about 26 weeks

When you do feel it you'll probably realise you've been feeling it for a while and not noticed

I started feeling flutters at about 19 weeks. When I had my 20 week scan I was told that for first time mothers they don't expect regular strong movements until 23 weeks and that it is only when you hit 28 weeks that they advise really monitoring movements..

With dc1 I didn't feel movement till 21weeks
