I had an appt with my mw in Tuesday and out of curiosity I asked which way to baby was laying. Mw had a good feel and baby was head down and spine facing my stomach. I was amazed it had managed to wriggle that way so early! But the mw explained theres still plenty of room to move Blush it doesn't feel like it...anyway, from experience or knowledge is it a good thing it's this was so early, or will it still move around a lot?

Don't think it's that unusual for a first baby to be head down by that stage - dd certainly was, and 3/5 engaged by 34 weeks.

Subsequent babies pop in & out a bit more as I understand it - but I think ds (I'm 33 weeks) has just got himself head down after spending the last couple of weeks switching between breech / transverse. They start to run out of room to turn much by this stage so head down is what you want really.

Mine was breech at 34 weeks and head down and 3/5 engaged at 36 weeks so yes they still have room to move! Mine was first DC too

Mine is currently breech at 30 weeks and registrar told me on Friday that they can move & flip right up until labour starts! God knows how there's room. Guess there's just loads of fluid.

Laura0007 - did you do anything in particular to turn your baby?

And was it really obvious when it flipped?

They can turn all the way through. One of my best friend was booked in at 39 weeks for c section due to breech baby but the scan before the op showed it was head down so sent home.

2 days later say midwife appointment they suspected it was breech again and when she went for scan it c section it had turned breech again at 39+ so yes plenty of time to move.
