cyst in womb on scan - anybody else had this?

a cyst showed up in my womb on the scan at 12 weeks. Biggish - 5cm by 5cm. the sonographer wouldn't discuss it with me and said to discuss with my midwife at the next appt. I had that today but she wouldn't discuss it with me and said to bring it up at my consultant appt at 21 weeks.

I don't have PCOS or anything like that. I wouldn't know I had the cyst if the sonographer hadn't told me.

I'm getting a bit fed up waiting to find out how serious it is.

So has anyone else had this and if so, did it come out at birth!

Hi, I don't know if this helps. Im pregnant with my second dc and had a cyst picked up in the lining of my womb at my 12 week scan. I don't think it was quite as big as yours but the consultant wasn't bothered about it at all. She said they were very common and can quite often dissappear on their own. When I went back for my 20 week scan it had completely disappeared. Fingers crossed the same will happen for you.

I had the same and mine went- I had it 8 weeks and it was gone by 12. V v common but, unlike you, I was put under gynea care, had blood tests and lots of follow up done. Mine was huge though and they were worried they would have to operate.

Fingers crossed yours goes soon!

Great thanks. I guess they can't be too worried. I am of course hoping it is going to go away. its just when I looked at my notes to look at the dimensions I realised it was as big as the baby! Shock

Mine was the same, had a cyst at 8 week scan and 12 week scan. I don't remember it being mentioned at 16 week scan, but it was definitely gone by the 20 week scan.

Hasn't happened to me, but I know My mum had one with my sister.
It didn't go away and was Huge, but didn't affect the pregnancy.
My sis was a week overdue and a bouncing 9 lbs.
The birth was all fine too - natural and she popped out 40-50 mins after arriving at the hospital.
My mum did have to have it removed later (think it was 5-6 weeks after), but it wasn't a massive problem (no abdominal surgery scars like c-section or anything) and didn't affect any future pregnancies/bikini wearing.
Sorry this is probably the worst possible outcome, but incase ur worried about pregnancy/birth itself - bubs should be fine.

I had one on my cervix. Picked up after I gave birth to dc1. Had another pregnancy with Dc2 no problem. However when pregnant with dc3 it was decided that it was too big and needed to be removed. I had the op whilst pregnant and it really was no problem. I've had a further pregnancy since and everything went well. I think these things really are quite common, but do remind them about it. In my experience you see a different consultant/midwife every time, and they might not be up to date with your own developments.
