Hi I had my whopping cough injection yesterday morning I couldn't lay on that side last night, and today it's got worse, quite a big red bump on my arm and it's red hot, hurts to lift my arm. Is this normal I've never reacted like this of an injection.

I had mine yesterday, could not lay on that side last night either, mine still hurts today but like a bruise, no redness etc but a little lump on injection site.

My arm hurt for about 3 days - I was surprised at just how sore it was!!

AJH2007 · 28/01/2014 18:33

Yes, the nurse warned me it would be more sore than with a normal flu jab. Was ok 48 hours later.

Hawkmoth · 28/01/2014 18:34

This is why I had it in my backside.

Panzee · 28/01/2014 18:34

Yes. It'll pass, but I had, trouble raising my arm for a day or so.

SweetPea86 · 28/01/2014 18:35

Oh that's good to hear not that you were in pain but not the only one, my arm feels like its on fire, typical I got it on the side I sleep on most lol looks like another uncomfortable nights sleep. I already can't sleep on my tummy any more :(

Yes, it's normal! Most people have it hurting for a day or so. Mine still felt vague discomfort a week later although the worst was gone by day 3-4.

Flu jab does the same for me too.

SweetPea86 · 28/01/2014 19:19

Bebbeau the actual injection didn't hurt. You might not have a reaction hopefully u won't.

I think it's the tetanus part that makes you hurt.

lorenzo1984 · 29/01/2014 03:09

Yes mine hurt for a couple of days afterwards, so much so I couldn't sleep on that side.

bebbeau · 29/01/2014 10:55

well i had it and it didn't hurt too much having it, but my arm is aching a bit though now

and the nurse talked me into a flu jab at the same time so both arms might be hurting me a bit later :o

SweetPea86 · 29/01/2014 11:18

Glad it didn't hurt too much, I manged to sleep on my arm last night, still got a red lump and it's hard and burning hot. But I guess its good in the long run :D xx
