ELCS - how long before did you go on mat leave?

Had an unplanned c sec last time after a failed induction for being too overdue, so going for an ELCS now. Feel like I should work up until the day the op as I know when I'm going to have the baby (unlikely to come early tbh) whereas last time it was like 'today could be the day...' so went at 35 weeks. I feel alright with the preg, Im a student teacher and its is bit stressful and tiring with the hour long commute then getting home at 6 and doing all the toddler bed time stuff (DP not home till 10 ish). But I don't know really. Any opinions?

Hi Mummy, maybe leave a few weeks before your op date to give you time to sort the baby things out and spend some time with your DC1 prior to there being 2 of them! thats what i plan to do, leave 3 or 4 weeks before my due date - i left a month before last time and i think it was too much as i was 6 days late, i think 3 weeks before for me would be ideal.
Depends on your circumstances i suppose - how old is your DC?

I'm in a similar boat and plan to go as long as I can bear to. last time the waiting was the worst part (well, failed induction wasn't a breeze either I suppose). I really resented the loss of a month of mat leave to fannying about at home waiting. would have much preferred it at the other end

It's what works for you though.

I went off 3 weeks before DS was due but then had ELCS after just 2 weeks off (low placenta hadn't moved). This time I'm planning to go 3 weeks before scheduled CS (placenta's low again) as I found 2 weeks wasn't enough. Also frankly I was so huge and knackered that I was massively struggling with my commute/sitting at a desk/concentrating/giving a flying fuck about my job by that point too.

I'm a teacher and I'm leaving 2 weeks before ELCS

I have an ELCS booked at 39 weeks and have just finished work at 34 wks also had EMCS last time. You need to have a bit of a rest also just because your CS is booked does not mean it will go to plan and you could still go into labour early!
