Hello, just found out that I am pregnant last night and am in a bit of shock (wasn't an accident but was quicker that we were expecting!) This is my second pregnancy but my first was 5 years ago now and I am sure I have forgotten everything! So my questions;

  1. I think I am only about 5 weeks but have forgotten to be taking folic acid, if I start today will it still help?

  2. My tummy and pelvic area aches, (like mild period pains) is this normal or should I worry?

Sorry, I am being really silly here and feel like I should know it all as I have done it all before!Blush

Yes and normal I think.

Congratulations!

Hello, congratulations!!!

Yes start taking your folic acid, it needs to be taken up to 12 weeks. I didn't find out I was pregnant till I was 5 weeks either.

Yes mild period cramps are normal, at 5 weeks they could be due to implantation or just things stretching around. If you get severe pains then get yourself checked out.

Not silly at all Smile

i know how you feel sjs! i got my bfp last week and totally freaked out even though i purposely had my coil out to ttc but we fell pregnant on the first cycle so pretty soon and i guess it caught me off guard. iv had 8 days to get used to the idea now and im slowly coming round and being excited Smile

aches and pains are normal, as long as you dont feel the need to take pain killers or theres no bleeding so dont worry.

start taking folic acid straight away and you will be fine :-)
ps join the september 2014 ante natal club, lots of other expectant ladies due in sept on there :-)
