What should baby weigh at 27 weeks?

Hi girls, just a question. I found out was pregnant at 21 weeks so therefor it was said it wouldn't be completely accurate at how far gone I was. I had a 3d scan last week which I should have been 27 weeks then and the last told me my baby weighed 2lb 11 and it was above average. I'm worried that he's a little overweight because I've been eating so much and don't want him to be unhealthy because of me. Do you think this is an average weight and what were your baby's weights at 27 weeks? Thanks everyone xxx

I have no idea how much a baby should weigh at 27 weeks, but I am pretty sure the weight of the baby has nothing to do with your eating habits or weight.

The baby will take what they need from you, no more and no less. Any surplus or deficit in your eating will affect your weight, but not your baby's weight (barring extreme malnutrition).

mine was estimated 2lb 8oz at 28 weeks which i believe is about average; so you are probably on the heavy sideof normal. unless you have poorly controlled diabetes what you eat is not going to make baby fat (unless your diet consists entirely of meat thats been pumped full of hormones!)

You might like to look at this chart:

When I was 28 weeks I was told my baby was 2lb 10oz and is sitting above the 90th percentile on his growth chart - bless him.

I've had two babies at 27 weeks and both were 2lb 5oz

My 28 week 2 day twins were 3lb 5oz and 2lb 11oz.

Your baby sounds just where he should be.

And they are doing little more than guessing the weight to be honest. I had a scan at 34 weeks where they predicted my baby would be about 8lb at birth and it was actually 9lb - a lot depends on how much amniotic fluid there is as this can vary significantly, so a scan weight can be out by quite a bit which makes a big difference to whether you are considered average, below or above particularly at 27 weeks where there is not as big a breadth of weights as at full term.

The weight of a baby is much more complicated than looking at how much you are eating. All you can do is eat to your hunger and eat healthily (it's not that you can't eat cake or chocolate, but you should still see it as a small part of your diet rather than as having carte blanche to eat as much as you want of it).

I have had my growth scan today and I'm 26+1 and the EFW was 1011g which is 2.22lbs. According to the sonographer that was bang on for 26 weeks.

At 28 weeks my baby was 3Ilbs or 3.5 cant quite remember but was told he was on track for 8-8.5Ilb at birth!
The sonographer was happy with this progress and said he was growing fine, didnt say he was too big or anything!?
