Dublin MNetters - How did you choose where to have your baby?

Just that really. I need to choose where to have my baby. The 3 main hospitals are overcrowded and I've heard promote active management of labour as opposed to active labour. My choice is between Rotunda, Holles Street and the Coombe.

I'm only a few weeks pregnant so don't want to tell friends/family/colleagues, which also means I can't ask their opinions. As it is everyone I know seems to have given birth in Holles Street even if they live closer to the other hospitals.

Anyone out there with experience of any of these hospitals? I don't think I have overly high expectations for birth - just that any intervention is of my choice and only if medically necessary.

Thanks in advance.

I've been to both holles street and rotunda, back at the rotunda for the second time now! I had a negative experience in holles street but that aside, I still find the rotunda a much more pleasant hospital. The staff are all lovely. I went private though so not sure what public or semi private clinics are like.
Holles street is known as being very medicalised and does not allow a labour to go over a certain time as far as I know. I've never heard this of the other two hospitals but they may have policies in place that I'm unaware of.
