I'm 37 +2. I don't want this baby to arrive early...infact 2 weeks late would be brilliant.

I am asked constantly how long I've got left as I'm still working. Then I get 'Bet you can wait for baby to arrive' or 'You'll never go another 3 weeks'

Am I unusual in not wanting this baby to turn up early? I have loads to organise indoors. A car chair on order that won't be delivered for at least 10 days & I still need to pack my bag.

I'm self employed so I'm not taking long off only about 6 weeks maximum so I'm trying to get as much done as possible before the baby arrives.

I can't be the only one...can I?

You are not alone, I'm only 29 weeks so I may change my mind but at the moment I really want to get to my edd or ideally one week over. My house is a total work in progress, the nursery, landing and stairs need painting and carpeting, the bathroom needs a floor, the kitchen needs painting and ideally re-flooring, and I need storage for the living room (piles of things convering the floor is not a good look). Money and time are both factors so I'm really worried I won't finish in time. I realise its not essential for everything to be done before the birth but I so want it all to be finished and lovely now!

DD was born at 40+10 and I'd be happy to get to 40+ weeks (she says, at 31 weeks, and already uncomfortable!)

Washer broke just before Christmas so only got fixed this week and I need to get the washing mountain clean and tidy up the resulting mess in the bedroom. And until that's done, I don't really know what else there is to do.

Although I think DD is getting impatient, she'd be happy for baby to arrive anytime!

Oh, and I'm planning a homebirth and still need to get money for and buy a pool and some other bits... (roll on payday!)

mrsmugoo · 09/01/2014 18:22

Definitely not alone - also self employed and not finishing work until 38 weeks. I NEED those 2 weeks so please baby...stay put til your due date!

buttercupski · 09/01/2014 18:30

Same here - 32 weeks and also partly self-employed, also tons of work to do on the house (including having bedroom damp-proofed which involves knocking down walls and then redecorating and isn't booked in to be done until week 37, argh) and also planning a home birth and still need to order pool etc. Please be patient, baby!

Shellywelly1973 · 09/01/2014 18:56

I feel a bit better now! Bloody helll damp proofing- hideous. I had 3 lots of DPC done on this house, never again.

I've actually decided against a home birth just this weekas the stress of sorting the house was really making me stressed. I've removed every job that isn't essential!

I still feel a bit overwhelmed though!

Oh no Shellywelly1973, don't say that about damp-proofing...! I've arranged to housesit for a friend while the work's being done, to avoid all the dust and mess etc, but that's 60 miles away so, of course, am now really worried that I'll go into labour there instead of in my home...
Good luck with all your organising.

You may feel a little different once you are actually overdue.
Both of mine went over by 2 weeks and I was ready to perform my own cesarean by the time they arrived! Grin
I do see your point though from a different perspective. DD has some issues. I really hope she goes to term to give her as big a head start as possible. Apparently she's likely to be early though.

Shellywelly1973 · 10/01/2014 09:45

buttercup sorry didn't mean to worry you!

When I bought my hovel of a house it had terrible riding damp. DPC had to be done on every wall of the house including internal walls. But that's extreme. I'm sure as yours is contained in a room it will be easier. Also your not going to be there while it's been done. I had to stay in the house even though it was literally a building site.

Saggy with my last baby I got to 40+2. I was very proud of myself! 6 years later & older- I'm definitely feeling the strain of pregnancy in my 40 ' s.

This morning I was knackered by the time I dropped ds to school!

I must move my rather large arse as I've 4 hours dc free & need to sort ds bedroom...

The damp was rising not riding! !

I wanted to go as long as possible too. I knew I wouldn't make term but was determined to hang on with DS in particular until 37 weeks (full term). September 1st was the day I turned 37 weeks and I was also quite keen to have a September baby as opposed to an August baby. My waters broke in the early hours of the September 1st when I was 37+0. I swear I willed him to stay in.

Seff, I've got a birth pool. It's a La Bassine Made In Water. I laboured in it but had to transfer to hospital for an emcs so I didn't deliver in it. DH sterilised it before packing it away while I was in hospital so presumably, it's all still fine. It has a pump for emptying and a hose for filling and I think a puncture repair kit. You can have it if you want? DH is booked in for a vasectomy tomorrow and we're definitely all done.

In the middle of renovating the house. Electricians said they couldn't come until DD! I let them know how desperate I am to get the house sorted a bit more before baby arrives and they pushed it forward for me, phew! Hope baby holds on until electrics and carpet sorted at least!

Shellywelly1973 · 10/01/2014 10:05

Showy I've had 2 dc at 37:weeks. Bloody hell that was tight timing!! I would have wanted the baby to be a September baby too. Two of dc were born in the first week of September.

I wish I could park my bump somewhere today & run around like normal...pgp is awful & It's only early :-(
