New pram mattress for new baby?

I've already bought a new Moses basket and cot mattress but have just got the buggy/pram out to wash and clean it and am now wondering whether I need a new mattress for this too?
The baby will be having naps in the pram during the day downstairs, so I was wondering whether the same rules as the Moses basket apply?

I've just had 2nd dc and I haven't bought new mattresses. There were no rips in them, 1st DC never puked on them or had any nappy leaks and our cot mattress was a pocket sprung one which she only used for a year.
If the mattress you're considering replacing seems misshapen or dented I'd replace, otherwise I wouldn't bother

I never replaced our cot mattress between dd and ds as it had a removable washable cover and the mattress underneath was waterproof and could be cleaned. If the mattress is in good condition then I would reuse it.

It depends on how old the mattress is. I used the same Moses basket mattress for three of my dcs as there are only 3.5 years between them and it was hardly used and no dent. The same with the cot mattress for two of them as it was pocket sprung and ds only used it for 9 months before he got a single bed - I did get a new one for ds2 though.

I think the advice of new baby, new mattress is so the mattress conforms to new safety regs and also if there is a dent formed from the first baby or if the mattress has been stored for a few years and could be damp/mouldy inside where it can't be seen.

It's seven years old, but has been stored in a case for the buggy and has had a waterproof cover on it. No dents that I can see... Think I might be alright then.
DH thinks I should wash it but if you take the cover off it's just foam which I'm not sure will survive in the washing machine!

you could wash it with a cloth and hot soapy water with a little disinfectant in it (the waterproof cover bit). I wouldnt put the foam in the washing machine.

I was lent a travel system with DC1, I bought a mattress as he slept in the Darry cot at night. I reused this for DC2&3 as wax given the travel system to keep after SIL finished with it.

I also used the same cot mattress for all 3 of mine. This is not in line with SIDS guidelines. I suggest you make your own judgement.

I would wash the cover.
