When will you / did you give up work during pregnancy?

Just wondered really :-)

Last time I stopped at 37 weeks - hated the first 3 weeks of mat leave (dd arrived on time) as was v anxious about things being ok with the baby.

Planning on stopping at 38 weeks this time (am a teacher so will be 2 weeks after feb half term) but will see if I make it that far...am finding pg much harder going this time as still sick & pgp becoming increasingly bad too.

I'm a teacher too and I'm going off at 36 weeks because my job is exhausting and I want a rest first??

I'm stopping at the end of this month when I'll be about 38 weeks. Then I'm off til the end of March 2015.

Finished on the Thursday, baby arrived Sunday evening, 5 days early! :-)

I was quite lucky though - managed to wind down in the last few weeks and was able to do more and more from home.

Wow ok, similar to me then :-)

I'm 38 weeks and hoping to carry on for 1 more week (would get bored at home alone).

Thought I was later than most, so it's nice to know its normal!

I plan on stopping work at 35 weeks. I can't wait! !!!

With ds1 I finished at 36 weeks and he didn't arrive until 42 +5!!

With ds2 I finished at 37 weeks and he arrived on his EDD.

I stopped at 38 + 6 - a couple of hours after my waters went.

I stopped at 30 weeks. My DM had severe pre-eclampsia with my eldest brother and went into labour 7 weeks early so was worried that might happen to me.

Also, I had fallen pregnant immediately after we bought our fixer upper house, so we'd been renovating non-stop. For about 4 months of my pregnancy we were living downstairs whilst upstairs got done. We could afford the building work but not the painting and finishing, so DH and I had to do all that. I was 7 months pregnant, up a ladder, painting my DDs room! Plus we had to get it finished because my MIL came to stay with us the week after my maternity leave started. Not to mention, I had dreadful SPD too.

Having the time off before baby arrived was a godsend. I had loads of time to rest, nest and get everything ready.

38+1 last time and labour started on due date. Aiming for 37+1 this time, but only because Easter gets in the way.

I'm not finishing until my due date

36+6. One week with DH before baby and a couple of weeks to eat pineapple and bounce on a birthing ball in between napping and eating chocolate.

Finished at 37+3 last time, will be 36+3 this time. Would work longer, but have holidays to use!

I'm at uni, in for 35-40 hours a week usually and it's a vocational, practical degree - not exactly sitting down writing like a lot of courses .

If baby comes on time, will be finishing pretty much on the due date - I have lectures timetabled for the week of my EDD but it's the last week of term.

Will be going back September 2014 as want to try and finish my degree with my classmates, we're all such good friends and although I've got some great friends in the year below, I'd hate to not be graduating with my friends.

Am finishing at 34+2, got a weeks annual leave and then in to a year of maternity leave. Can't wait- really struggling with work both physically and baby brain!!! Maybe a little apprehensive that maybe I'll get bored but hoping to catch up with friends/do some swimming/ read/ do some cross stitching- bought a gorgeous peter rabbit cross stitch to do- never done one before :-)

im finishing at 36+3 this time (next week. eeeek!). have felt ready for a LONG time!

I was planning to finish at 37 weeks, then bought it forward to 34 weeks due to long commute, work travel and rib pains.

In the end I got signed off sick at 32+3, but worked a bit until 33+2.

That wasn't my original plan at all, but my body was screaming at me to rest!

I went until 38 weeks with my first. I'm knackered this time with work and a 2 year old so taking 2 weeks leave at 36 weeks and then starting mat leave at 38 weeks.

I did two weeks annual leve from 36 weeks, then maternity leave from 38 weeks.

Might do the same this time too, depending on how I'm feeling and if I need another section or not.

DC1 about 38 weeks
DC2, was hospitalised at 33.5 weeks with placenta praevia.
DC3, first hospitalised at 24 weeks, then 26 weeks when I was told I couldn't work again. In fact, with DC 2&3 I worked at the hospital to try to stay sane.

Worked until 38 weeks with dd.
Will work until 37 weeks this time. Back to work mon and start the 3 week countdown. So tired this time with a commute and 2yo dd.
Taking a year this time when only took 8 months with dd. Can't wait!!

I'm working until 39 weeks. Everyone at work thinks I'm mad, but I really don't see the point of being at home, I'd be bored.

I'm a medical secretary so I can just plonk myself at my desk, not on my feet all day. Just hope I can last that long. Feel fine at the moment (27 weeks). I would rather have my maternity leave start nearer to the time when baby badfurday is here.

I finished on my due date each time although took 2 weeks annual leave the first time beforehand (he was 1 week overdue) & then only 1 week annual leave the next 2 times (& then was 10 days over & 8 days over respectively).

I liked working right up until the due date as I felt fit & able to do it & meant more time off afterwards. I was also too big to actually do any fun stuff, so it would have just been hanging about the house waiting for something to happen, so definitely preferred being at work!

[At the time I worked in an office, so the hardest part was fitting behind the wheel of the car (short legs!) to drive there & walking between meetings as our office is huge!]
