Operation evict baby can commence today...before I am induced (in less than a week) but I have no idea on what to do!! I'm having daily monitoring and a scan on Monday to check baby out again, booked for a sweep on Sunday with midwife will that help?? Been advised to take evening primrose oil to help prepare my cervix but I'm not convinced it will help/do anything??

Apart from sex (I'm so not in the mood too big & painful :() I'm not sure what else I can try?

Any suggestions??

Theres a few things to try here

Also they offer reflexology at my MLU a couple of days after the sweep.
I read primrose oil up the foof, rather than swallowing it, can help ripen your cervix?

Good luck!!

It's definitely up the fanjo not orally that's supposed to soften your cervix.

I did raspberry leaf tea from 35 weeks and bounced day and night on my ball.

I also scrubbed the house, emptied my kitchen cupboards and washed every pair of curtains in the house Grin. I went into labour 12h before induction, but they induced me anyway to speed things up (didn't work still took another 36h).

But if your baby isn't ready they won't come and you might be best using this time to relax before he or she arrives.

I have a feeling he's not going to budge!

Might try the oil & see if that help just never heard of it before...

Will look to into reflexology doubt they offer it in my area but if its not too pricey will give it a go

Thank you

Eating pineapple?? That's supposed to help, as is strong curry (but beware I tried this and ended up with bad wind and crapping myself in throws of labour!!) Think there is something about eating ice too.
Good luck!!

Clary sage oil massaged into tum got things moving for me, I didn't think it would work so began eviction at 37 weeks and in labour the next day. This time they want to induce at 38 weeks so I will be trying the same thing at 37 weeks I think.

Ilovekittyelise · 03/01/2014 21:56

i tried everything except clary sage last time (about to order some now having read hangingbellyofbabylon'spost.

i was induced at 39+3 having spent a fortune on acupuncture, stuck about a litre of epo up my fanjo ( all i had to show for it was greasy pants), bounced around on ball, hot curry (just gave me awful heartburn) & breastpump. i wasnt even a centimetre when i went in.

Nipple stimulation apparently helps, being induced myself on Monday and got given a leaflet about it today and it says to induce labour naturally 'rub nipples between between thumb & forefinger, one at a time up to four times a day'. Its supposed to encourage the release of oxytocin.

Husband looking forward to trying this out over the weekend :)

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 04/01/2014 01:44

I had reflexology but got it for free as I have a family member who does it, it's quite interesting they can tell a lot of things, and baby did do what he was supposed to do, I was booked for a section but was in agony so hoped to speed things up. I also had a sweep when at a check up just because it was offered.
I was in slow labour for about a week then had my section as planned, but he probably would arrived a day or so after as was fully engaged and had to be pulled out by forceps as was about 4 cm dilated I was told. Hmm
I would stay as active as possible, I had to lie about as could barely move, think this slowed things down:

Breagha4 · 04/01/2014 18:52

Stimulating nipples apparently can start contractions. Good luck. X

lljkk · 04/01/2014 18:54

Good luck, lol @ title.

ImMarmite · 04/01/2014 19:08

Clare saga & milk bath is ment to do the trick...

Rosebug258 · 04/01/2014 19:32

So far tried the curry - hottest I could stomach and all it done is give me a dodgy tummy

Epo tried it last night but I doubt it will do anything lol

Pineapple gave me a rash :(

Bounced on my ball no idea if that's helping

Debating on sending hubby to buy clary sage....if supermarket sells it

So it's down to sex but I'm not sure that will work either think this baby is in for the long haul!!

Oh and I made my nipples sore fiddling hubby enjoyed having a go tho....odd man :)

Shall see how favourable my cervix is tomorrow when midwife examines me, am I right in thinking no point in her trying if its unfavourable?

Thank you for all your suggestions

And just noticed that I've not finished packing my hospital bag (it's all sat on the top) so must get a wriggle on - can guarantee if I don't something will happen!

rosebug you have to be a litttle dilated for them to be able to do a sweep (i wasnt last time).

jugglejugglejuggle · 04/01/2014 19:45

Deffo clary sage... Add a few drops of it and a few drops of milk to a bath, jump in and enjoy.

My Nct woman swears by it. I went into labour 4 joys afterwards at 39+6 first time I've been early for anything in my life

Rosebug258 · 04/01/2014 19:58

Last time my cervix was checked it was still really high and the doctor struggled to find it, that was about a week ago I'm hoping its done something in that time!

Shall see what my lovely midwife says tomorrow if not shall go back to nipple tweaking and send hubby out of clary sage oil :)

Thinking almost anything is worth a go at this stage
