Anyone had a sweep before their due date and it worked?

I have a sweep this week (38 weeks) and just curious to know if your sweep worked before you were due? This is my third baby but I was induced with my others so never been early .

Snap lol, no I'm going to say no sweep with my third. They never worked with my 2 pregnancys. They are uncomfortable and I'd rather let my partner in lol x

Why are you having a sweep at 38:weeks?

A sweep won't work unless your cervix is favourable. Even after 2 babies it might not work... but it might!

I had 2 sweeps with DC3 - one at 37 weeks and one at 38 weeks. I had blood pressure issues and had been induced early with DC1 and DC2, so the Consultant was trying to see if I could go into labour naturally before an induction became necessary again.

Neither worked and I did end up being induced at 38+2. They must work for some people or they simply wouldn't do them though. Would they?

I also have blood pressure issues and a history of preeclampsia so they have offered me an early sweep. However, it turns out my midwife is away so I may not be able to have it until next week but I'm hoping the closer to my due date it's done, perhaps the more likely it is to work?
But seeing as I have never gone into natural labor I'm not holding my breath!
Really don't want to be induced again and the doctors won't let me go overdue :(
