Does anyone know what these are for?

Saw a different MW today and she asked me to pop one in without telling me what it was for. A quick look on Google suggests the most likely reason was for illegal drugs testing Shock

Is this standard practice? Or do I just look like a smackhead?

I didn't ask at the time because I didn't want to give her the impression that I had a particular problem with being drug-tested. Just mildly offended curious (and wondering whether I need to start washing before leaving the house)

It's a thermometer lol

Oh my goodness, I'm sure you don't look like a smack head! I didn't have one of these 3 years ago, will let you know if I do with this one, I will make sure to brush my hair on appointment days too!

I've never heard of this and I'm a student midwife.... As mentioned it was probably a thermometer lol

Oh that's ok then.

It wasn't a proper thermometer tho in my defence Blush

It was a little disposible plastic strip- like the things they put in your wee. That's why I thought it was a test.

Crisis over.
