Just wondered if anyone has any experience of using spas in pregnancy? I love them but they all say you should avoid them in pregnancy. Any thoughts?

I think its the temp which is the issue hence avoiding jacuzzis etc. on our babymoon dh treated me to a pregnancy massage at a spa which was lovely so you can still do some bits - best check with the spa! think they use diff oils etc to normal too.

in scandinavia they use saunas and steamrooms all the way through. obviously here theres a blanket "no no no" due to the risk of someone being so daft that they properly overdo it. as long as you dont stay in so long that you raise your core temp and heart rate and become light headed i personally believe it to be fine and have found steam rooms relaxing and good for aches and pains in both pregnancies.

Thanks - that's pretty much what I think. I love a nice warm bath - is a jacuzzi really so different. I think I spent much less time in it!

I've avoided them because I know I get light headed easily in saunas etc, not much point going when the only good bits are the heat treatments!

If you know you are usually fine then go for it, just don't forget to keep hydrated and listen to your body.
