Hiya, it doesn't necessarily mean MV no. Although it's advised you go to your local EPU with any bleeding in pregnancy.
Can I ask what you mean by a few days pregnant? Have you taken a test & got a BFP yet? If you mean you had unprotected sex a few days ago it could be an implantation bleed which Is very normal. There's not really such thing as a few days pregnant as you are classed as 2 weeks when you conceive (they count from last period),& can't really find out till you are about 4 I think.

Hopefully your not having a chemical pregnancy, I had one in sept they are horrible know matter how early you are.
If you know your pregnant - by a test/ GP confirmation or something, then call your EPU, they may need a referral from GP or A&E to see you but will let you no the steps.

Good luck, hope it all works out for you xx

Ps if your unsure if you are pregnant,
You could/should take a test? Or wait a few days and see if the pain is your period coming. You won't necessarily know if it's a MC over normal period if you don't test, it could save heartache.

lizziekal · 22/12/2013 07:54

Not necessarily. I've bled and spotted with miscarriages but have also had the same throughout this pregnancy too (I'm now 24 weeks) so it could go either way. Will keep my fingers crossed that you get the result you want xx

Op here is my experience: on Christmas Eve 2006 this happened to me. I worried and worried over Christmas then went to GP and got sent for a scan the next day. It tuned out to be implantation bleeding. Ds2 is a currently in the next room to me playing santa games on the computer.

Hugs and hope for the best for you.

Tullissa - if you're getting pos pg tests, it can't be implantation bleeding as it'd be too late for that. So you're pregnant - congratulations! When was the first day of your last period? That is when you start counting your pregnancy from, believe it or not.

Writerwannabe83 · 22/12/2013 10:53

Actually VJ you can have what they call Implantation bleeding for many weeks after getting BFPs. As the fertilised egg develops and grows it burrows deeper into the lining of the womb and in some women, not all, blood can be shed. I was having this type of bleeding (old brown blood) when I was 7 weeks pregnant and again at 10 weeks pregnant. Some women experience it for even longer.

OP - after both episodes of this type of bleeding I had a scan and baby was absolutely fine. This kind of bleeding is very common. As long as you aren't having lots of pain/cramps or the blood doesn't turn fresh (red) then try not to worry. Congratulations on your pregnancy.

VJONES1985 · 22/12/2013 10:57

Ah right, I didn't know that. I've had no spotting at all but I guess it could still happen!

Writerwannabe83 · 22/12/2013 11:01

It doesn't happen for everyone at the actual implantation stage I.e when the egg first burrows after fertilisation. I didn't have that type of 'implantation bleed' and I think the percentage of women who actually have that is pretty low. But brown bleeding/spotting in the following weeks is quite commonplace.

tullissarose · 22/12/2013 11:04

Thank you for your response...iv woke this morning to the same again my clear blue test r just barely positive this morning but the early response test are a slight faint positive..but are defo there am I better to go by the e/r test? I think my last period was the 17th of November but I did a test a week or so ago and it was negative I think but only checked it quick..! Do I just ny worry untill I c red blood? Am I pregnant? Sorry for all the questions but I have no1 else to ask..thanks again..

That would make you five weeks pg so I'm surprised it's only a faint line still. Maybe try a different brand??

tullissarose · 22/12/2013 11:07

I have just checked and it has turned red...but I havr no pain!! ? im having a m/c arent I? X

Hi OP, it's really hard for anyone on here to say for sure what's going on.

My MC at 8 weeks started with brown blood and then turned red and unfortunately we were unlucky. There are many stories on here though of this scenario and baby turns out just fine.

As far as I'm aware and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but the most pain you would experience this early on would be like a period, ie mild cramping if anything.

Do get in touch with your EPAU tomorrow and they'll offer you advice. Good luck x

darkdays · 22/12/2013 14:04

I had a small bleed at five and a half Weeks (red) , had a scan at early pregnancy unit and everything was fine times two. Good luck OP. Contact your early pregnancy unit and book a scan.

justhayley · 23/12/2013 21:14

Really hope your not having a m/c. I had one at 5 1/2 weeks in September and had a LOT of red blood and clots. I knew it was over because of the amount I lost.
Are you only bleeding when wiping? That could be a good sign.

Pain wise the evening before I had a period type ache then once the bleeding started I had cramps for a few days.

The faint positive at 5 weeks doesn't sound great but if your periods are irregular you could be less than that. I ovulate on day 30!

If you go to your EPU they will give you a blood test, & ask you back in 2 days for another. They will see if your HCG levels are doubling - which they will of you are still pregnant, or dropping if the worst is happening. That's probably the best way to find out for sure why's going on.

Wish you all the best xxxx
