Placenta praevia bleed at 23 weeks - anyone experienced this?

I was diagnosed with anterior placenta pravia at 19 weeks and yesterday had a bleed at 23+3 Sad It was not masses of blood but enough to get me very worrried (bright red, just a speck on underwear but coated several wipes of toliet paper). We went straight to hospial but only stayed a couple of hours as thankfully the bleeding stopped. I've been advised to carry on as normal and that the hospital will do nothing before 24 weeks. Planning to go to work tomorrow as usual but very nervous about future bleeds - has anyone else had early bleeds with pp and did you have more? How much bleeding wareants ahospital stay? Were you advidpsed to carry on or rest? Any advice appreciated.

I had pp, but bled first time at 32 weeks, and bled a lot, like a fist sized clot and lots of blood. They are usually reluctant to say too much too early on as there is always the theory the placenta might move, mine didn't and was a grade 3 major pp. I was on bed rest from 33 weeks, in hospital from 34, had 4 big bleeds in total resulting in emergency section at 37 weeks.

Hi tinkerbell, thanks for replying. They do seem to have been reluctant to say too much. I know it is unlikely it will move clear being right over but was hoping it may move a little and not bleed as it is just the lower end over the cervix (not centrally over). I wonder if growing/ pulling up could cause bleeding. We do not live very near the hospital so am worried about bigger bleeds later on. Your bleeding sounds scary but at least not too early - glad to hear you got to 37 weeks.

Hi, I had pp with DC 2&3 (waves at Tink, I've NC again). With DC3 I had my first bleed at 24 weeks, so only a little further on than you. I was kept in for 2 or 3 days. I was told I couldn't go back to work. I said that was ridiculous, baby wasn't due for 3.5 months! I was signed off for 2 weeks, back at work for 2.5 hours before saving to re-admit myself.

I had bleeds with DC3 at 24 weeks, 26 weeks, 3 separate admissions at 31 weeks before being kept in at 33 weeks, EMCS at 36+1. Baby was fine and is now a pesky 3 yo sat on my knee when she should be in bed.

Every time I had a bleed, even with DD1 I was kept in for a minimum of 48 hours, but all mine sound as though they were bigger bleeds than yours.

Was never told to rest, but was told:
No lifting
No carrying
No pushing a shopping trolley
No sex
No flying

Sometimes I had to have a grown up with me, which was frustrating.

I was also told that more than 1 drop of blood, I should call an ambulance, although I never did.

I should also have said it was grade 4 pp both times.
