Lol no offence to be taken to anyone here but reading some of these posts there are some real viscous answers on here lol.

There are lots of lovely, kind supportive posters on here too! I've found MN to be fantastic at times.

AIBU is the place where you see this the most. It's all about honesty. Sometimes I guess that can be taken as brutal but ask for opinions, generally you get them!

Pascha · 14/12/2013 17:26

On Pregnancy? Confused. On AIBU maybe, they're all just people you know, sometimes nice sometimes orrible just as in RL.

NorthernLebkuchen · 14/12/2013 17:28

There are some exceptionally sill questions asked. Those do tend to get firm answers.....

SirChenjin · 14/12/2013 17:31

Can you give us some examples? Some topic boards are pretty brutal (stay away from AIBU if you are of a nervous disposition...) but pregnancy tends to be very helpful and supportive.

Wolfiefan · 14/12/2013 17:31

Viscous vipers!!
I'm vicious about spelling errors. That's for sure!
And as for lol?!?!?!

Applepiesky · 14/12/2013 17:42

I'm not even sure where AIBU is?!

TheDoctrineOfSanta · 14/12/2013 17:44

Second star on the left, then straight on till morning, Applepie.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 14/12/2013 17:47

OP - 'lol' is not punctuation you know.

Pregnancy is a very supportive board, except for the odd exceptionally dull question. My personal favourite was somebody asking whether she had harmed her baby by eating an M&S ready meal that had a white wine sauce.

not brutal, honest. If you just want hear shit like "u no ur bubz hun", you're in the wrong place.

Sammi1986 · 14/12/2013 17:51

I tend to get annoyed with the people who say something that's obviously not true. Like one recently said the flu jab was a live virus and it was putting poison into your veins...

SirChenjin · 14/12/2013 17:56

If you follow the sound of tears and the exchange of blows then you'll come across AIBU Wink

Cariad007 · 14/12/2013 17:56

I must admit I find it a little odd when people ask questions like "can I eat XYZ" on here when typing the same into Google would get them an answer faster.

BIWI · 14/12/2013 17:58

Welcome to Mumsnet, OP.

I'm wondering what is 'brutal' in this forum. Usually it's very helpful. And of course if there are objectionable posts, they can be reported to MNHQ who will delete if they break talk guidelines.

I have however seen lots of pets by newbies scattered round various boards, generally saying that the OP doesn't like it here.

As there are many other websites, it's simple to find one that suits you better.

Julietee · 14/12/2013 18:03

Cariad Yeah, that's how misinformation gets spread (the one that annoys me is that we can't eat smoked salmon - NHS website says we can! Admittedly this is mostly because I adore smoked salmon and will not see it slandered), and we end up getting advice that's a) plain wrong or b) from different countries.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 14/12/2013 18:14

Ah but Cariad - typing it into Google doesn't give the OP the warm and fuzzy feeling of people making a fuss of them Wink

Just had a nose at AIBU as I've never looked before.... Scarily hilarious! One woman actually said she refuses to have fat or ugly people in her house....

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 14/12/2013 18:45

Oh god never google when pregnant. There's always a page (usually Anerican, usually 'holistic') that will tell you doing X, Y or Z is Highly Dangerous and has definitely damaged your baby. And it's usually at the top of the search page.

In fact, it would save a lot of trouble if MN just linked straight to the NHS What To Eat In Pregnancy at the top of the board.

puntasticusername · 14/12/2013 19:45

Sammi if we're thinking of the same post, I'm pretty sure that one was satirical!

Thornita17 · 14/12/2013 20:16

I knew id spelt vicious wrong I couldnt be asked to change it! Lol well im going to go check this other forum out. I need a laugh...

Yes there are some people on here who say some quite nasty things actually (luckily I haven't felt the brunt of it myself) but I have seen some poor people receive quite unhelpful and rude comments. However, most of the people are nice and friendly and very helpful, so just ignore the bitter ones.

Sammi1986 · 14/12/2013 21:48

Puntastic, serves me right for trying to read an enormous thread while making Christmas cards with a 2 year old... ;)

AlwaysWashing · 14/12/2013 21:58

There are some prize idiots, really, but there are some amazingly wize and experienced women (not exclusively I understand but my experience has been of women) whose opinion I would respect.
