Protein & the other long worded thing beginning with L in my pee

Had my check up with mw yesterday and she said I had protein and the other thing in my pee that could indicate a bladder infection. I've done a pee sample and dropped it into my gp. Since reading up on this though, it can just be a sign of an infection somewhere in your body. On Saturday I got the start of a sore throat which is now getting worse. Sleep is a thing of the past, I can't count the amount of times I woke myself up just through breathing and my throat being irritated Hmm could it be this that has shown up in my pee?

Lucocytes??

I think you only get protein in your urine with a UTI, which is common when pg. I could be wrong though.

Leukocytes? Sometimes a sample can be contaminated when there is no uti, which is why they send a second sample off to be tested.

If the results come back that you do have a uti, you need to be treated for it because they can cause problems in pregnant women if left untreated.

Glad someone can spell it Trinpy Grin

That's the one! So because I've got a really nasty cough, this wouldn't be what could've been detected yesterday?

I wouldn't have thought so... Did you have blood tests done as well? If so, you could have a raised inflammatory marker as a result of an infection anywhere, but I don't think a chest infection would show up in urine results.

I had this on Monday! 3+ leukocytes and a trace of blood in my wee. Turns out it's thrush and no uti

K8eee · 11/12/2013 19:07

Nope, no blood test. When I read it I thought it sounded a bit odd to pick up a chest infection.

Oh no I feel for you Tea, I'm not sure what's worse; thrush or a uti Hmm

I have no itching though! So hoping the wee test picked it up before it invades!

Lucky you, Tea , I've had recurrent thrush for weeks now and mine bloody well DOES itch Sad. Seeing GP on Friday to see if there's owt they can give me beyond clotrimazole.
